Hey everyone, looks like this is the place I need to be. I'm in the market for a m1086 to build my rv on. That model seems to fit the length I need. I have a mechanical/fabrication background, Will enjoy reading through forms to see what I'm going to be up against for maintenance/repairs or things to change out to improve liability.

Welcome to the Outfit!

Take a look at the Vehicles For Sale forum.
You might find what you need there.

This might be a stupid question, but do you have a CDL or is there some way to drop the GVWR so it doesn't require a CDL during the conversion to an RV? I see a lot of people doing this sort of conversion but I've never seen a CDL mentioned and frequently with both people of a couple driving.

Not a stupid question, I do have a CDL but when you register these trucks, you can register them for recreational use as a rv/motor home. That way a CDL is no longer required and can leave gvwr. That is at least in NY other states may have a different process but have the same end results.

Huh, I haven't seen that listed anywhere around CDL requirements, granted all of the info I've found has been vague and poorly explained, but it makes sense that RVs would have an exception. Most of those really big RVs have to be over the 26k line even without any extra gear. Thanks for the info.
