I'm just curiously wondering how high that thing might fork to? as it looks like at least one "inside sleeve" and one "outside sleeve" on top of that it looks like the middle chain drive might be a independent third piece too

of course can't forget that as these forks looks very long its probably a good thing it has these stabilizer jacks for 'weightly' safety too

That is a vehicle I would dearly love to own. I have looked hungrily at them for a long time, they combine military/Unimog/useful around the farm in one cool package.
They are a rare beast, indeed, and from my understanding, very complex and expensive to maintain and keep functional.

But they sure are cool.

huh I sure take back a bit of what I said as I somehow for random no reason decided to try do "unimog forklift" search on youtube and mm here we go:

at 5:56 that looks like maybe 9-10 feet working height?
and heh I'm not too surprised it can even roll quite a bit either directions too but that would make sense for picking up a pallet on uneven grounds tho

UPDATE : IT SOLD FOR $16,100.00 !!!!! o_Oo_Oo_O

I bet the Town never saw that kind of price coming .. No doubt they obtained it for less than 2k ..

Most of the time a state's OGS (office of general services) screens the federal surplus at regional facilities and the municipalities pay OGS a menial "finders fee" for available "free" items.. Municipalities usually send OGS a wish list of equipment, and in some states there was/is an OGS phone number to call to listen to a recorded list of items and location ..

30 years ago when i was in local elected office, M39-series and M809-series 5-tons were only a $1000 fee to OGS.. Parts 5-tons were $100. Good M880-890's were $400 ..

I also knew of one smart large town that had an ex-army combat engineer working as its lead mechanic, who screened federal surplus items himself and obtained dozers, dumptrucks, earthmovers, graders, screen plants, etc etc etc at zero cost to the town other than his hourly wage, travel costs, and heavy transport if he couldn't move the stuff with the town's own lowboy .. This all happened when they had about a decade of heavy residential development happening in rural areas , aka urban sprawl.. They capitalized on all the free stuff to widen and improve more than a hundred miles of formerly-dirt roads .. Driving into that highway deptartment's back lot was like stepping into an early 1970's-80's engineer battalion motorpool .. And yes, I did attempt to hire on there, but employees were required to live in that town.. I was already well-established 25 miles away and not about to uproot and move

They now go by a percentage of the ORIGINAL purchase price. There "AIN'T" no deals in that stuff any more. Its easier and less expensive to try for things in SURPLUS than EXCESS.
