Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

gringeltaube, and everyone who took the time to respond with their knowledge. I appreciate the help! I wasn't trying to infer that you or anyone else doesn't work, merely issuing a fact in mitigation of my absence and lack of immediate response. Just purchased and brought home a BMY M925...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

As stated gringel, the issue is resolved. The pto linkage was slightly bent. Replaced one of the linkage rods, re-adjusted, as it appeared to my mechanic that the gears were not fully engaging. Took the front brake cover off and found a rusty mess. Replaced most of the guts, and adjusted the...

Winch fixed, thanks for your help. Update: Thanks Gimpy. The brake was the issue. The truck was, and is, back in service. Relatively inexpensive fix too.

I've followed your directions gringeltaube, cleaned it up, and the pics will follow. What I can read on the housing is stamped "643 AY 187 P Z". Under that are two words forged "Stewart or Steward & M(?????)" "Made in U.S.A. Here is what it looks like...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

. If the band brake was rusted/seized would I still 've able to free spool? Later respooling by use of the pto 70' of cable? Wouldn't it effect everything not not just under load?

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

Thanks for all of your input. As of yet, I haven't been able to determine if the shaft is still rotating when the winch grinds to a halt. Two person job and haven't had an available helper. Now that school is out that will change. In the interim, and completely unrelated to the winch issues...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

As to it ever being run dry of gear oil, not to my knowledge, however I am the 3rd owner. 3) me, 2)A ranch foreman near Conroe Texas, and 1)The United States Army, Amarillo Depot. It may help if I could find an exploded view of the winch. I only changed on out before and it was destroyed on a...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

Delay in response caused by internet loss related to the most recent storm. Typing on my phone is ridiculous. First, the shear pin is in tact. As I stated doing pull outs is a regular occurrence. I checked the shaft and it is still connected and engaged. I've spun my share of shear pins (3...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

My deuce is a workhorse doing daily beach pull outs, mud pull outs etc. My winch doesn't pull well at all. Yesterday I was pulling out an F250 Super Duty that was resting on its frame. Normally no problem. This time though, extended about 70' of cable, put it in low range, released the drum...

Restoration -Help identifying what was mounted on the pass side fender

Someone thought it might have held the ration heater. It is an odd place to mount an antenna... The holes are machine punched as opposed to drilled. So I don't know

Total Brake Failure on my Air over Hydraulic Tacoma

Thanks to gimpyrob and others for your help, the tuck is fixed Removed the Airpack break assist and opened it up. It was a mess to say the least. I was told that the water build up was caused by not blowing my airtanks often enough letting the condensation build up. Suffice to say it was a...

Thank you Gimpyrobb Thank you Gimpyrobb, for the confirmation. I'll get a pic of it at first light tomorrow and post it after work. Thanks to all that took the time to answer - even those that just chose to bust ba**z. Truly entertaining. Do you recommend rebuild or replace?
