Stuff is magic. I have a 10k here that was going into overload at under 8KW (while simultaneously showing only 20% on the load gauge) just a couple of days ago. Being so cold I sprayed and exercised and came back the next day and just like it left the factory.
Hello. Yeah the S8 cleaned up just fine, and got full functionality back (with no overload condition up to 13.5kw). Forgot to circle back on this. Thanks for the reminder.
I don't know when they made the vendor change, but like you have said a few times, thats an irrelevant figure. This one was dusty in the rear of the control box, so certainly with the liberal washing it got... I hope the next owner will be problem free. She tested fine.
That's awesome Guy, the forum thanks you.
I took the operator cover off this morning, and set to checking all TBs, all connections, and to bathe the S8 in deoxit, like it was visiting a Turkish spa. I found two wires on a TB that were not loose, but could take an additional 1/16th of a turn. I...
It was also doing this when testing 5.4 + 2.7kw.
Does anyone have a simple wire schematic for the S8 that is cleaned up? What seems more likely here... something is miswired on the S8, or that the S8 might be faulty?
Ok so riddle me this, Batman...
So I have a little bit of time to play with this today. Just hooked up the bank, and got it to temp and flipped it on. So I am getting about 8 minutes of run under load (about 75% on the gauge, about 10.8kw of dryer element). So the generator is still...
Ok, so I misspoke (or was not clear). So the overload light was still coming on. I did not take the additional step of running with the battle short on (I really shouldnt have been out there messing with the set to begin with, so I wasn't going to push my luck). I will though, and will check the...
Oh yeah, great combo. By the time I came back from the doctors office around noon, my wife had prepared a bone broth for me. She's a keeper.
My next guess as to what the problem might be here, are the burden resistors. Thoughts?
So, the new K8 did not fix the problem. It is still going into overload condition. AND.. I have pneumonia. Fun all around.
Getting 12-18" of snow tonight, so I have it out back, knowing it will run our place just fine until I can get back to it (we have very little draw requirement).
20c sounds like a wonderful temp for a ride! I used to head west every winter for a round of trade shows, in the process, trading New England February for mid 60s Southern California. The locals would be scurrying around in coats... I'm just looking for a nice outdoor cafe to grab a bite at to...
I believe that would be "Open -10 manual" ;). I just dropped the project and came in for lunch and to post the question, experiencing ultimate frustration. You finally shake your sickness?
I must have hit the emergency stop when reassembling the control box hinge... **** do I feel dumb. I owe kloppk a six pack, I think. I was so frustrated (I've had this laryngitis for like 3 weeks now) that it had taken that long to do the swap over (though I was very certain to make sure to...
Ok, so before I go burn my garage down with everything in it....
So I swapped the K8. All of the wires appeared to be put in place correctly (and I believe I did my due diligence in putting them all back in position)...
So now I have NO power at the set at all. The dead crank works... but when...
Just grabbed one off that auction place. I hope to swap it out this week, and have it readily fix the problem. Been innundated with calls for gensets in the last 48 hours. Happens after every major storm.
So this set has about 1400 hours since Tier Reset... so I guess its possible its had a wiring fault this whole time, but I would think that maybe thats not as likely?
It does seem perplexing that its still dumping the load with the battle short on, which is why I post here. I will look at the...
