I have learned a alot from working on the ccuv converting it from diesel to gas and have recieved multiple replies from every tread I have started. this is a great site for help. The technical manuals are great, and one thing to remember if warthog tells you something it will be right.
I found out something else to be aware of after cutting the hangers on the mufflers to make them fit. By cutting the hangers and moving the pipes forward the mufflers now are in the path of the travel of the leaf springs. When they compress with a load it pushed the muffler into the drive...
Swapping out the transmission is a great idea and one should have done and will probabley do in the future! Be sure to take the radiator to the shop while it is out and have the neck(s) changed out for a long term fix. I am sure the metal discharge hose adaptors would work fine but I will feel...
Well she is finally out of the shop and is on the road!:driver: I took her out on the highway and just like everyone said 55 is fast enough with the gearing. I am going to drive it for a few days and then put it to work hauling hay and wood to see how it preforms. i will let you know how it...
Thank you for the information! I ordered a torque converter and flywheel, the donor was in question anyway. I asked about a governer to change out but the o'riley's parts store had no clue what I was talking about and neither did I. Do you have any additional information that I could provide...
Hey guys I have ran into another problemaua We have the motor in and it runs great and when we went for the test drive it has a horrible vibration. The only thing that I can think of is we used the flywheel and the torque converter from the 6.2 on the 350. We thought it would be easier but now...
I am looking at trail worthy fab for 16.5 24 bolt rims for the 37" tires. What is the minimum I will need to run these tires and wheels? Off set, lift and or trim I really do not want to do a lift due to the expense and I am going to use the truck for heavy loads.
The metal connectors with clamps is what i had in mind until i see how the truck does. Then the radiator neck swap would be a great long term solution. I appreciate the advice!
The motor is in and went in suprisingly easy only had to cut the hangers for the exhaust to allow them to bolt on and ran into one problem. The radiator hose is larger on the diesel than the gas motor does anyone know a good fix for this problem? aua Is there a reduction hose or an adaptor...
The truck is in the shop now and my friends are comming over this weekend to start on the project. I will let you know how it turns out. The next step will be to place a dump bed on the truck. Has anyone done that project before?
Thank you to everyone for the great advice; but after speaking with the guys at the parts store and having no luck with the glow plugs I have decided to go with the 350. There are not many diesel mechanics in my area and they are very expensive. I have a 84 donor vechicle for the wiring and...
I would love the help but I am in eastern Oklahoma, thank you for the offer. Are the glow plugs easy to install? That will be the first step I will try.
Ok i am convienced I will get some glow plugs and new batteries and see if I can make it start easier. Thanks for the great advice and I will let you know how it turns out. It will be a couple of weeks before I can get to it my schedule is very full at the moment.
I am wanting to use the truck as a farm truck and it will not see many hwy miles. Will the diesel have enough power to haul alot of weight? I also want to add a dump bed to it as well.
I do not know anything about diesel engines and this one needs starter fluid each time it is started. I was told the engines in these trucks did not have much power even when new. I would hate to spend the money to get it fixed and then be disappointed in the
performance.
I am very new to the site but I am looking for information about replacing the diesel engine with a 350. Is this a good conversion? What problems can I look forward to, any help would be appreciated.
