1009 water pump / timing cover leak

I started to replace my 1009 water pump and realized on disassemble that my leak is not from the pump but from a hole due to corrosion on the timing cover. I have a hole about the size of a pencil eraser in the timing cover right up against the block on the passenger side next to the coolant...

    M1009 Water Pump

Noticed some coolant under the M1009 the other day. Checked radiator and see it is quite empty. Add some water and it just pours out the water pump. Looks like catastrophic seal failure. Question: is it fairly straightforward replacing these? Anything to look out for? How much will I need to...

    M1009 starting trouble

Thanks for all the quick replies and great advice. This project sure kept me busy over the weekend..... I checked all 4 glowplugs on the driver's side and none have continuity to ground, so it was a good call on the glowplugs. The frontmost plug is stuck/presumed swollen. Is there a special...

I figured out why my Glow plugs are swollen...

can the swollen plugs be simply "pulled" with some kind of extractor? Where to purchase? and anything to look out for in advance? I need to extract at least one of mine....

    M1009 starting trouble

Hi All, New member here and new owner of M1009. Bought the truck two days ago and drove home about 40 miles with no difficulties. Stopped twice and restarted without trouble. Tried to start yesterday morning. Turns over but won't start. Tried about 10 times, 10-15 seconds of cranking followed...
