Can anyone give a comparison of driving with lockers vs without?
I've never had the opportunity to push the traction limits of a 5 ton so what would the non-locker 5 ton experience be vs the detroit locker setup. Would the locker limit you in any way like driving on pavement etc...How does the...
Ron,
These pearls of wisdom are 100% true for a private seller but it becomes pretty dang funny if you think of Government Liquidations as the seller!
We buy our trucks from them with every issue you just listed... Lol!
Looking back on it, it was scary stuff but fun as Heck!
you can lightly dust suspected leak areas with spray deodorant then power up or do a short drive...the white powder will instantly show any fluid movement and will clean off easily afterwards
Sounds like a good excuse to do the 200 amp alternator upgrade...why spend money and time to get back to just O.K. when you could go big and bulletproof!
Congrats, but HOW did you fix it and what were your results...Please elaborate so the next guy can benefit from your learning curve...kinda the silver lining to your pain is the next guy doesn't have to reinvent the wheel...
Please make sure you come back and tell us what you found...it will help the next guy trying to do a search before asking for help...it's frustrating to do a search, find 8 threads about a certain problem, read thru 11 pages of post, and the original poster did not come back and do a write up on...
That's probably smart especially since Tractors are going for decently small money right now, even one's that have been rebuilt and/or armor tops (frankentrucks)...then spend the left over money to get it bobbed/cab extended the right way. I vote you give 73M819 (Ron) a call...He's right there...
Like the song say "I'm diggin up bones"...this is an old thread but it's an important topic...it sure is helpful when these threads are finished out and don't die on the vine...Does anyone have any follow up info on this topic or remember what was determined about the S-250 outside paint being...
You can get plastic coated military issue lube orders from a certain auction site for $20 or so. It willshow you exactly what needs lube and where, it's good ammo in the war of Preventative Maintenance...Congrats on the Dump...I'm till waiting on the SF97 for mine so it will be legal...
Ditto.
Stops the air leak permanently and you just press the valve core once in a while to purge anything and it's done.
*note* take out the small o-ring in the bottom of the canister or it will catch on the air valve stem.
It was explained to me by the director of the RRAD 5ton program that the level of rebuild a 5ton got depended on which of two programs the truck belonged to when it went thru RRAD. One being the active duty track and the other was Guard/Reserve I think...The active track got a whole level higher...
Yeah NC has become ICE central the last few years. I lost about 50 trees last year and a few of those fell on classic cars...Sounded like a war zone with all the pine trees exploding...one fell on our truck while we were cutting some others that had fallen across the highway...The M930A2 will...
For those trying to figure out if it's the tire O-ring or the rest of the CTIS causing the leak, CSM DAVIS has given you the right tool (above) to figure it out...putting a valve stem core in the tire rim airline will isolate the wheel rim from the truck. Inflate the tire to desired pressure...
It's hard to say exactly until all the lines are mapped. Hoses are priced by the inch of hose plus the cost of the ends (if new ones are used)...there is also different types of hose that can be used. This weather has all but stopped my fuel line research program for a while, but I can say the...
While you're waiting for all that candlepower to arrive, it would probably be a good idea to either hook your truck up to shop air via the glad-hand connections, or start your truck and when it get's to full pressure, cut it off and climb under it and go front to back/back to front checking all...
Send me a PM and I'll help walk you thru it. It sucks to have to learn a new truck and a website at the same time...
For starters got to this link and download the Operators manual and all 5 maintenance manuals so you'll have the info you ARE DEFINITELY going to need...These trucks need...
Cummins in BFE, Case International Harvester is made in Turkey and the final blow...GM is owned by FIAT??? ...How American were those names...The famous quote goes "As Gm goes, so goes the nation"... Seems nothing is safe anymore...That's what makes SS even more important... to preserve what...
Congrats on the successful trip home! That's no small feat...it would be no fun to learn about your truck for the first time while it's on the side of the interstate most likely in the rain at midnight in an area where there are not many exits....Murphy must have been tired from messing with...
