    So I'm currently rebuilding the old alternator at the moment. The TM's mention a resistor on top of the brush holding assembly and voltage regulator. Mine does not appear to have one. Has anyone else had this happen?

    I was replacing the U joint on my 1984 m1009. After I put new rubber seals on the yolk and bolted the spindle and slash shield on I noticed that the end of the spindle is slightly covering the slot on the yolk where the snap ring fits in. No matter how many times I try I can't get the spindle...

    My alternator is going bad. I'm pretty sure its the bearing that is going bad, because its making a loud groaning and squeak noise. I figured I'd save a few bucks and try my hand at rebuilding it. I've never done this before. I have an '84 M1009 so I'm pretty sure the alternators a stock...
