    FMTV Repairs and upgrades

    I agree. I have seen people try this and it just never works. The oils inside of the cover will seep out and cause a poor weld. Must be removed and cleaned for a correct repair. I've also seen some covers that look more cast then machined aluminum. It can still be done, just different techniques.
