    The issue wasn't the knowledge required to hook up the trailer, it was to ensure the M871 trailer would fit on the M818 with larger tires. It sounds like the job is complete now anyways.

    I think the 871 has about 100" from kingpin to landing gear - Much more than the 818 needs in a stock configuration. I seem to recall seeing a photo of an 818 with 1600R20 tires pulling a M127 trailer. If it can do that, I would imagine that it can pull a 871, which has considerably more...
