Larry,
The brakes have always been as you described them. Even when i bought the truck i took all the brake drums off and inspected all the shoes and cylinders. I also adjusted some of the shoes themselves. I had never been able to lock the tires while stopping, but always could come to a...
no doubt, it will only increase the value of the remaining original DUKWs, just like the classic cars that haven't been rodded out. I was only speaking of the difficulty of the the metal work. It would be a lot easier to make a truck that will drive down the road than one that will float in...
i believe bobbing a DUKW would be extremely hard. My father and I have worked on two DUKWs and the fact that the outer ribs are horizontal and the inner ribs are verticals makes for **** trying to fix all leaks. The only way to properly do it is to reskin the hull which is a major PITA. Just...
That was the FM I was talking about. I guess my question was what kind/rating of rope do they want you to use. Obviously synthetics weren't around then.
I have done some searching but didn't find the answers I was looking for. I have a Non-winch truck, and no funds to purchase a stock PTO winch or Warn electric. I was looking through some old TMs and found one that dealt with recovery or certain vehicles.
One section shows using a rope...
No big deal about the mounts, I had them laying around so I put them on. I like to do some woods riding/camping so they will come in handy. I am sure that if I was in a war situation I probably would have my weapon mounted securely in the cab.
Finally got them in. Being that I don't have any black guns to put in, I had to use what I had. I just can't make up my mind which setup i like best. I didn't realize how good an old Coach gun would look in the deuce8)
Funny, I was going to do the exact thing with my deuce. It should fit 2 ATVs, and 2 dirtbike. I love the idea of the camper with the vinyl cover also. One thing though, what kind of ramps do you have?
Looking through some old threads I couldn't find the info I needed. My dad was cleaning out his shop and came across a mess of rifle mounts. They had the spring clamps, butt mounts and upper stock mounts, but no angle bracket. I was going to see if anyone had some measurements for the angle...
Great show, pretty decent turnout for the 2nd annual. It was 100F all day and I got a heck of a sunburn, but it was great time. Mine is the one with the beach umbrella:roll:
Kind of late notice, but there is going to be a military vehicle, and gun show at Camp Jordan Arena on the Sept 2-3. The gun show is only on saturday though. I am going to try to make it saturday because I have to work 2nd shift friday eve.
I am thinking of possibly running CB and 12v fuse block off of one battery with a disconnect. I know I am new to the SS scene, but some of the guys who I know that have been collecting military vehicles for 40 years now never seem to have that big of a problem when running radios, CB, etc.. I...
not trying to hijack, but is there a way to look up SS members by area? Or a thread that people have stated city/state? It would be very helpful especially if people are traveling
