New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

After reading others threads on the forum and talking with some other friends in the know, I've decided to put some miles on the truck and see what happens. Some said oil I didn't get out of the pressure plate is probably getting thrown around in there causing some of the slippage. My brother is...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Yeah, everything got plenty of oil. I can't decide if I should pull the tranny again now and throw in a new clutch/pp or wait and see if the slippage clears up. I've only put 5-10 miles on it since we put it back together. The clutch pads looked to be in really good shape when we had it...

We cleaned everything pretty good. Can the clutch slipping cause any further damage???

Wish I would have received and went by your advice earlier. Pulling the tranny again and installing a new clutch and pressure plate. Everything looked good especially after we cleaned i up with brake cleen. Must have soak the pads good or it is spinning out of areas we didn't get clean. Got...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Attempted to go for a spin today. Clutch was slipping a little and didn't want to burn it up so it's still a my brothers house. Got to work 3 12 hour shifts the next 3 days, so won't get to adjust the clutch until Monday. Luckily it's supposed to be warmer than and no rain. Also found out my...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

WooHoo...!!!! The tranny is back in. Lined up without too much problem even though we didn't have an alignment tool. Had more trouble adjusting the clutch than anything. Couldn't find a measurement for the space between the throwout bearing and pressure plate arms (is there one?). Filled the...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Awesome!!! Just printed out the appropriate pages. My roomate (diesel mechanic) is going to look for an alignment tool at work tomorrow. Probably just end up fabbing one up. He's also picking up fluids tomorrow so we might have this thing going tomorrow night. :-D:-D

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Okay, that is good news. Paranoid I'm doing all this work for nothing. Definitely learning a lot about this truck though. Can't wait to get it rolling again. Now to find those torque specs.

I also need to find torque specs for the clutch/flywheel/etc... and shaft size so I can use an alignment tool for the clutch. I know there on here somewhere but I can't find them. Help.

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Planning to button this thing back up tomorrow. The rear main didn't really look too bad. Cleaned up all the oil. Replacing the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and rear main. In my reading I've seen some posts about the crankcase breather possibly being clogged. Where is this breather...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Pulled the tranny today. Much easier than I expected. Used engine hoist through drivers door since seats are out. The clutch looks great, not worn but everything is covered with oil. Pulled the rear main and also the rear main carrier. I'm going to get a new rear main seal from NAPA tomorrow...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

Appears to be motor oil. Brother drives for Roadway/Yellow and roomate is a diesel mechanic. Both think that is the case. Guess we'll know for sure on Sunday. Hopefully all will go smooth. I'm excited to get to work on her. I'm a novice at this stuff so it'll be a good learning experience for...

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

If anyone has tips on parts we'll need and where to get them, please let me know. I also need to replace window seals and clean up/recover the seats while their out. Might as well start painting the interior awhile too.

New Deuce needs new main rear seal...

I've been lurking here for awhile now and found a truck with help from a few members. Ended up buying a '70 M35A2 from zb39 this past Sunday. Attempted to drive the truck from western PA near Slippery Rock to central PA in Lancaster County. Got about 40-50 miles with everything going well...
