Hello from Germany,
I had the same problems with my M151 A2!
Engine lost power above 40mph.
I removed the small metal-fuelfilter in front of the carb. and cleaned it with compressed air.
After that the MUTT droves like new.
Meanwhile I replaced the old fuelfilter.
Bye

@ rickf:
THX for the informations about the carb adjustment.
The plug wires are checked. If the problem should be there,
it would also make trouble while accelerating.

Maybe like Harley Davidson engines...
Update:
Just found the timing informations at the decal on the valve-cover.
I flashed the crankshaft pulley with my strobe at idle 500-550 rpm

Mine has 4 hoses and 1...

After I decided that it is to much trouble to remove the heater,
I found out that the windshild hinge has the same holes in the frame (1st. pic. red arrows) as on top of the firewall (1st. pic. white arrows).
Why not mounting the arm-holder there?
But the bolt in the...
What means "does not want to idle well"?
Is idle to low, do it need more rpm?
Or does idle go up and down?
If idle is to low, turn the "idle-adjust-screw" a little clockwise.
See red arrows on the picture / forget the yellow arrows...

Hello from Germany,
what do you mean with "through the heater vent intake"?
Do you mean that moveable clap outside in front of the windscreen rh-side?
Ciao
