I have a MEP-002A which is not generating any power. I tried looking for someone to fix it, but I have been unsuccessful (live in PR). During all that hurricane Irma/Maria mess the generator kept us going (7 months without power sucks). I really would like to fix it because this thing is a...
Question, checking the maintenance manual it says:
Thing is I cant seem to find TB3, I see TB2 back of the AC box (Figure 6-11 on T34 manual) but looked over the manual and cant seem to find it. Can anyone tell me where it is so I can do this test.
Ok thougt my multimeter was acting weird since when not connected to anything it gave me random readings but when i tested the batteries gave me a stable 25.7v.
Tested the pin 27 and on start position on and got 25/26 v.
I had already checked that with the multimeter. No power on l1 l3 or on outlets. Gauge for hz + volt worked when generating power now says zero.
Holding the main switch in start position while running? Wont that mess up the starter like with cars?
The generator was running. I run the generatot only at night. I was sleeping when it failed but since I have one of those apnea machines I noticed immediately. It just turned off as if the breaker was turned off. The breaker was still in the on position.
I'm not an expert but I'm comfortable...
I have been using in the generator for a while (6 months without power sucks. Stupid hurricane). Anyway 2 days ago it stopped generating power. Hertz 0 voltage 0. I have one of those chinese generators and I'm using it at the moment but I dont trust it so want to try and fix the 002a.
So which...
Ok I might have explained things wrong. It does not just pops out. It starts coming out slowly with the vibration until it is out enough to starts to turn off.. It sounds as if it was running out of fuel and I push it back into place and it keeps running. So I dont think its electrical just a...
Ok, that was it. I imagined something fell off. Added a bolt and it now turns off with the switch as it should.
Now the last thing I need is a new emergency shutoff switch. The one I have sometimes pops off with the vibration and turns it off. I MacGyvered something to keep it down for now...
Ok i pushed the ball joint in but still nothing. The distance between the extended piston and the lever that shuts things down is too long when it is running. I guess about an inch?
Is getting dark here so tomorrow I'll try to take a picture of it when it is running with switch on and off...
Ok. Turned it on and off a few times to see what is going on. Switch and solenoid seem to work ok. When it turns on the piston(?) goes up. When the switch is set to off it goes down.
I guess it should go down enough to push the lever that turns the genset off but it does not. I took a photo...
I cant give you more info until I check things. I'll check the solenoid and tell you guys what I find. Its really not a big issue just an annoyance at the moment. Thanks for the help.
We have had it for over 6 years and it worked well. Specially now with all this hurricane Maria mess (I live in Puerto Rico). Some time ago it started doing that. My father turns it of manually with that lever you mentioned. Ill check the solenoid tomorrow.
With all this mess I fell in love...
Just like title says. Starts ok shutting down with switch does not work. Any recommendations on what to check or should I just buy a replacement switch?
Other than ebay (which sells them at $260) is there another source for them?
