See you all at Cars and Coffee today at World of Speed in Wilsonville.
Its mostly a sports car thing, so I am going to try my hardest not to run over a Ferarri or something.
:-)
Funny story, check it out.
Big thanks to simp5782 for helping me with a quick diagnosis.
Truck has always been a strong runner. Clean rebuild. Never to the sandbox.
Anyway, would not build air. No pressure. Nada. Very strange, it worked last nite. Very bad timing with July 4 here. I have...
After watching it done the first time, I can definitely believe that. No magic to it at all really. The scale of everything is just a bit much for me as I am not a big strapping dude. But if I ever find myself in TN, I will look you up for tire help.
:-)
Well, I am in the process of replacing all my torque arms. One by one. Got one more under today. Few more to go. My times are getting better. Still trying to figure out how to do the uppers.
Pulled the little lever off the air valve that automatically kicks the front axle in when low range is...
Great idea. Really...
My only experience even close was asking my local tire dealer chain, les schwab, to swap an o.ring in my wheels. This place does Class 8, but they didn't even want to look at SuperGreen. Really couldn't get me out of there fast enough...

ah yes, I read that with the greatest of interest... And fear.
I really meant, anybody install new ends THAT WERENT DEFECTIVE and has one fail?
i can imagine how it felt to know you just put on a whole batch of known bad ends. It does seem the vendor stepped up and acknowledged the...
Question for the dudes:
Has anybody replaced a torque rod end and had that new unit fail? By fail I mean had a bushing separation.
I am trying to figure out if it is enough to replace them or if I need to replace and reinforce.
It seems all failures have been on old (factory installed) ends...
Wanted to kick this to the top.
I also threw a torque rod on my truck earlier this year. Mine popped off as I was braking around a turn at around 40mph. Mine tossed a front axle, lower/front bushing. Right side.
So I pulled that arm off. Big tools. I used a hydraulic jack to turn the wrench...
Thank you all for the help.
In the small truck world, they are control arms. I think that's why my searches were less than successful.
I feel feel better after reading all this. I will order one end up for now and do the press and replace thing.
Seems like a good idea to get the 12.pack...
So there I was driving along minding my own business. Braked into a left hand corner. Felt a thunk like a wheel locked up and the drive started driving odd.
Fortunately was about a half mile from home. So I rolled home and did a quick walk around. The right side wheels are touching. This is...
thank you all, especially 98.
Yeah, what I was seeing did not match the TMs. I am going to pull everything apart tomorrow and report. sorry for the drama. Very frustrated as we are in the middle of a move and the truck was super handy.
:-)
Sorry. I am confused as well. So sorry if I am coming off like kind of a retard.
The first question is:
- Tubes. Common? I have never heard of them inside of these, but I am a definite noob here. If so, standard tube?
Second question:
- O-Ring. Got it. Got the right one for sure. My wheel...
OK, so I have been fighting a slow leak for a while, finally decided to take it into the commercial tire place to get it fixed. I thought it was the O-ring so I ordered that to have ready.
Got there and they pulled the wheel off and apart. Easy, peasy.
Inside was no o-ring on the wheel...
Yeah, diesel is sitting at $2 or less a gallon. I am commuting in mine every day. Feels almost economical.
My gas gauge is way far off though. Is there any "how-to" on this or is it just a matter of pulling the float and bending it until satisfied?
:-)
Wanted to report back.
Got to it fired up today and tightening the hose clamp closest the intake solved it.
I know. I know. We all love a happy ending.
:-)
Thank you all. I will report back.
Again kind of new at this, but let me give you all findings.
Four mounting bolts on each side of the turbo. 4 10mm bolts on the compressor side and 4 13mm bolts on the exhaust side. All tight.
Turbo to exhaust manifold. Tight.
Then we move to the...
