Dave Kay- Thanks very much! The Fontana store is only three blocks from where I get on/off the I-10 for work. Will check it out after I'm off of Graveyard shift.
Will Wagner- Sorry, I guess I coulda made my reply iin a separate post. I mentioned in post #4 above that I'm in Beaumont CA.
jollyroger- cool thanks, I have added a gladhand with threaded hub for a quick-connect to my list. I have hoses for around the garage, so I'll be taking them with me...
Warthog:
I understand your concern- I have lived with the dangerous traffic of southern California all my 42 years and recently seen a LARGE number of stoopid things on the I-10. But you have taken my lack of experience with a certain model of truck and translated it into an inability to safely...
I know a BFH is a hammer, what's the "S"?
THANKS very much for the list; will go and get some stuff next paycheck.
Oil and especially fuel filter numbers??
I live in Beaumont, and I will be retrieving the truck in Santa Clarita (assuming my on-going financial plans work out). $500 down on the...
Hi All:
Getting ready to get my first M35 with a 3 hour drive, so I was hoping some of you could please list basic items such as fuel filters and belt(s) I should take with me. I will need the part numbers and whether I can use NAPA or such.
THANKS very much!!

Just kidding!! This is a quote of another guy on a WWII forum.
Thanks very much to all of you! I very much appreciate the useful comments and insight.
I decided to get the multi-fueler because this particular truck needs hours and hours less work and $$$$ to get it driveable. I do like older gas engines, but I just don't want to do a restoration right...
Not trying to look down on anyone here AT ALL! Sorry if this all came out wrong. I very much appreciate your replies to other posts!!:)
Just trying to push lightly toward well-thought-out mods in relation to air brakes.
Yep, the compressor crankshaft is always turning when the engine is, BUT it's not always compressing and building heat. Maybe the military over-engineered it and it's rated to compress air continuously; but if it isn't then it will burn out if it doesn't cycle as designed. Shop air compressors...
Hi All:
I am looking at my first M35 and both trucks I am considering will need batteries.
I am an electrician and with extensive mechanical background, but the M35 is new to me.
Can yellow-top or red-top Optima batteries do the work on the LDT multi-fuel engine, or do I need actual full-size...
Thanks guys! I see that many M35's shown here don't have winches, so I guess they're not considered critical. Looking at eBay they price from $700 to $1400 for the 24 volt models. Probably still half price of a stock set-up (hydraulic, right?).
Can't have both, have to store the one I get at a...
So that would be $15 x 20 ($300) + $15 x 10 ($150) for a total of $450. If you got a quote for this work at $300, seems good.
I have looked at getting a set of tire tools (a "duck-billed" sledge hammer and two "spoon" prybars) and it was gonna be expensive. I think it was gonna cost me over...
Dinosaur Tire in Calimesa gets $30 per dismount/mount (split rims), so $300 for the ten as well. Seems like the going rate in So Cal. On the other hand, the truck repair shop just off of Cherry Valley Blvd. at the I-10 wanted to charge me $80 just to dismount ONE 9.00-16....:cookoo:
Hi All:
I've restored a 1/2 ton Dodge WWII truck, and it's time for something different. I have a guy who will sell me a complete and ready-to-run LDT without winch with soft top for $3200, and a different guy offering one with winch and hard top with gasser engine but needs brakes work (and...
I'm gonna be a **** here and point out that we all have legal responsibilities to keep our vehicles safe for us and the rest of the non-6x6'rs out there on the road.
That said, I point out that increasing the capacity of the braking system will run the compressor longer, building greater heat...
