There are only two major battery manufacturers in the US anymore and they make all the private label batteries for eveyone else. One is Interstate and the other is Johnson Controls. About 5 years ago, Interstate starting building crap batteries right across the product line. When buying...
RE: Re: "Club event"
Have had more problems with non police. Was backing my halftrack into driveway one evening when a women roared up and slammed on her brakes skidding to a stop just short of the truck. She jumped out and started shouting at me about I almost just injured her kids. Then it...
It refers to the tandem axles. Twin screw means there are two rear axles and they are both driving(powered) axles as opposed to having only a single rear axle or tandems with one driving axle and one tag(unpowered like a trailer) axle. Is this truck and trailer rig for sale?
Lee, you are correct. I had an m813. Not being familiar with a deuce-are the brakes really undersize and stopping is a problem? You are probably also correct on legal issues. Does anyone know what the m813 or m54 is rated at for towing?
I was planning to do the same thing-half track on a back hoe trailer. Bought a 5 ton, but was way too big of a truck for me so sold it and was going to buy a deuce. After reading all the comments, I am not sure that safety is really the issue here. WESTECH commented about flat towing other...
I want to do the same thing with a halftrack. Does anyone know the towing capacity of an m813 5 ton? 5 tons have big brakes, but does the cummins 250 have enough power for a 20K truck and 25K trailer?
Bought an XM813 out of March Air force base(So. Cal) and drove it right off the base home to N. Cal 400 miles. Bone stock off the base ran 52 MPH flat out all the way home. Ran pedal to the metal and the engine govenor set the speed at 52.
I use liquid dishwashing soap. Mix with a little water and very slippery. Best thing is when it dries it doesn't leave a slippery residue like silicon.
to FreightTrain. Thanks for the info on race car shop. I own a couple of race car parts manufacturing Co. Seems like a lot of race car and off-road guys on this site.
Can anyone tell me why hydraulic brakes are used? I haven't been able to figure it out. You have everything needed for air brakes already(compressor, air tanks, trailer glad hands, etc.) so why the second brake system? Surely a treadle valve and spring brakes must be cheaper than...
RE: STEERING
For m-35tom. Isn't the steering box mounted inside the frame rail with the steering column an integral part of the box on the deuce? I see you have a u-joint on the box and I assume you have another one on the steering shaft. What did you do to the steering column to adapt it...
I'm thinking of buying a deuce to pull an equipment(backhoe) trailer. Does anyone know the height of the pintle hitch above the ground and what size lunette the hitch will accept? Also, where can I get the male plug for the trailer wiring that would plug into the deuce female socket?
RE: THATS THE RUB...
I think TCI transmissions makes a stand alone electronic controller for the 4l80e that you can program for shifts and it also allows calibration of the speedometer.
