If it was ONLY the back and not the front your problem is a bad brake hose from the frame to the back axle , they Collapse inside I do not let the food returned back but the pressure from the pedal will push it by causing it to be trapped
I have seen this many times it can happen to any brake...
The quickest way to check is when brakes r stuck on loosen the brake line between the master cylinder and air pack (just loosen don’t take off ) if the brakes release the trouble is the master Cylinder
Also had that problem a wile back found the cup in the master cyclender had swelled just a little bit and was blocking the small return hole witch in turn would not let all the fluid back that pressure keeps the air pack engaged , rebuilting master cyclender fix the trouble
The belt may Will dance around a bit under load take a look after compressor kicks off and it should run smooth , if any body needs compressor wrenches let me know have plenty

You could also cut the valve off with a hack saw just below the hex and put a six point socket on it , and as you said heat always helps, be sure to heat around the valve not directly on it
Your fluid went somewhere look around and you should see where it is leaking, if you get it bleed out hold the pedal down hard if it creeps slowly down you have a leak it is unsafe to drive!!!
