There are many things that can cause white smoke:
1. Low compression
2. Coolant leak in motor
3. Bad injectors
4. Bad Injection pump
5. Injection pump timing is off
6. Bad glow plug/s
7. Air in fuel line
If it still smokes after the motor warms up can rule out bad glow plugs.
If your...
Ok thank you for the advice. Since I’ve owned the m1009 the trans temps always seemed high but she has been running and shifting great over 10 years with the exception of replacing the vacuum modulator every other year or the rubber hose for it.
Do you think mounting a trans cooler in front of...
Yesterday I got my first dose of maintenance on the Optimizer. 2 of the rubber injector return lines started leaking on passenger side (Turbo side) After removing the turbo heat shield and injector heat shield I was able to get access to that super tight area and replace the return lines without...
I took her for a ride yesterday on the interstate on semi level ground. It was about 86 degrees outside.
Temperature readings:
Oil Temp. Sensor location on oil pan: Maintained 220 degrees.
Trans Temp. Sensor location trans:
Maintained 220 degrees
Coolant Temp. Sensor location Coolant...
The air cleaner boxes arrived. Between the 2 models I ordered, it was a no brainer on model SPE-9831. I successfully mated the airbox to the snorkel! Because the snorkels outlet is 3” wide I used a 3” coupling mated to a 3” exhaust pipe adapter that is about 4” long and then a 3” to 4” coupling...
Thank you for that info! As you posted this, I just noticed some fuel in my valley and am thinking I will have to do your modification if it is leaking from that nipple.
I would like to get a set of 40” tires but am worried about how much they cost and how fast they wear down. I was wondering what are others thoughts on what would be a great all around 40” tire that I could daily drive with and not worry much about watching the thread $$$$ fly away with each...
Your welcome!
Almost every 6.5 swap I have seen has minimal info with not a lot of pictures. Once the motor is in people tend to quit posting the other mods used to make it work.
For example, it’s best to install the rubber fuel inlet tube to the injection pump before you install the intake...
Pictures of the other model air filter box I ordered. I will return the one I will not use.
K&N has similar models but they are not rated for diesel and do not filter out particles as well since they are 4 layered filters and these Spector models are 7 layer filters.
Since I relocated the battery trays, the coolant reserve tank no longer fits on the driver side. To fix this problem, I ordered a 1988 Chevy Blazer coolant reserve from eBay for only $23 and mounted it to the passenger fender.
I intentionally mounted it not level so I could make room for the...
I also installed a LMC truck battery tray on the passenger side. It bolted right up with no modifications or drilling.
The driver side LMC truck battery tray did have to be modified and holes drilled in the fender.
I also cleaned up the battery cables better and used insulated clamps on the...
I did the DIY4X spring plates in the rear. Also have 64” long rear leaf springs with the DIY4X 6” shackles and flip kit. I don’t have rear bump stops. The front has bump stops.
I was just thinking how close my new exhaust is to the tank. I’ll add some heat wrap and a stick on heat shield in...
The exhaust is done! I spared no expense on this mod and went all out!
Diamond eye down pipe modified with a 90 degree and 45 degree mandrel bend elbows and wrapped with heat wrap. The frame was notched slightly so I could keep the Oem exhaust heat shield on the firewall.
Diamond eye cross...
My problem is... I already have a Phantom 2 Tach gauge that is adjustable and it is already wired to the passenger alternator which shows 4000 rpm at idle. So I am looking for better signals.
I’m guessing it is a custom made or modified part. It would be interesting to see a write up on how to build these. I am guessing the company is no longer in business.
I plan on keeping the V-Belt set up.
I was searching the web and found a few images of a 6.2 diesel vacuum pump with a tach speed sensor.
Is this a part that can be ordered or is it custom modified?
My goal is too hook up my tachometer to a better signal but yet still keep the vacuum pump in the same location.
