Looks about normal as such things go, I can tell you I wouldn't hesitate to drive it based on that.
Yes, I'd feel better after some plasitgage. Actually, I've had issues with the crank journals going egg-shaped so since it was a running engine I'd worry less about clearances and more about...
It has the dual 50-gallon tanks, nice.
I'm sure you know this already but for any novices out there, but if your run bobtail, these trucks not only have an inhumanly harsh ride, the brakes are also an invitation to disaster since basically all the weight is pretty high above the front axle so...
Front hinges, you also need the quarter-fenders (shown). I don't know why the new front wouldn't fit, I personally hate the look but I know it's more aerodynamic.
You might have more luck if you specify the size and weight of said engines as well as how soon they need picking up and when you think you can get a trucking company to pick them up after.
Oh, and will the city load them or does the person picking up need a crane/etc.
As it happens, I do have...
Oh, ouch. Just noticed yours is an alligator hood, while you are checking yards for the parts you need, I'd suggest treating yourself to a nice 1-peice fiberglass front end.
Seems like you can use the parts off a 6.6, you might find one somebody is selling cheap...
Here are some pics of a F800, 7.8 non-intercooled, I picked up a couple weeks back. They show the radiator, top tank, etc. pretty well and give you an idea of the routing w/o intercooler.
I have an intercooled truck (but not here), it's very similar but they change the fan clutch, etc to allow...
Assuming it's in good shape, that's a great truck as a good price. I'd be on it in a hot minute. The 7.8 and MT643 with 4.1 is a winning combination on the freeway for sure, as long as you don't need more than 240HP. 72K is nothing for that motor.
If there is one thing that might give up on a...
Decent for what, for a non all-wheel drive vocational truck? I like mine just fine. They are much easier to work on and more modern than the military stuff but might not take as much physical abuse.
1992 had the intercooler and was one of the last trucks before Ford went with the Cummins...
There are powered tire rasps out there for rounding tires and they do work. They used to be so common that every decent tire shop had one, pretty thin on the ground in this day and age though.
I remember having a sort of death-rattle at a very particular speed on a 1-ton Jeep PU in my youth...
I bought a 6.6-powered F700 recently and it seems setting the timing just-so really helps wake them up so I thought I'd see if anyone here knows a shop, perhaps someplace around Bakersfield, who is good with timing the older Bosch mechanical IPs.
I can turn up the fuel and governor easily enough...
I ran 20-100% biodiesel in my 6.9IDI motor for about a decade. The only issues I had were when I started it dissolved a lot of old junk in my fuel tank and I had to change my fuel filter after a few months and I think my fuel return hoses got softer a bit faster.
As you observed, lower...
I really like ambulance bodies, well built and with lots of nifty wiring and plumbing one can re-purpose.
That said, I'm now building a camper based on a deuce water-purification body. It's crazy heavy but I love the way one entire side opens out.
Yes, coolant passes through the oil cooler. A small leak or short drive represents no hazard in operation, but a long hill-climb with a load without coolant would cook your engine right-enough.

I expect it might be useful for smaller stuff at least.
Of course, for those of us not running on restricted titles or insurance it might be a nice way to help fund the odd trip.
I for one would love to get a welder shipped and have it show up on the back of a deuce. :-)
Well, I guess it makes a certain amount of sense since some guys are trying to resurrect a 10-ton lately out of a yard in eastern CA. Perhaps they will be along to tell us which museum it's destined for?
I'm surprised no one mentioned the fact that at 9'6" wide, they are over-width in some states. I know a guy who just sold a 10-tonner in CA and the buyer is having to go through some hoops to get it transported.
I guess a lot of them wound up down in Mexico working in quarrys.
I know with these old non-wastgate systems you don't get much boost as the engine tires out. In a way that's a good thing since you are putting less stress on the headgaskets and such as they age.
I had a 6.9 corn-binder motor with the ATS setup and when I bought it was seeing boosts as high as...
That's Kaiser, you don't need a "Y", just like owning one.
Ask for or go take a picture of the other side of the motor, that's where the turbo would live. It makes a lot of difference in hill-climbing and driving at altitude, less for just cruising.
Just pay the $200 to get it moved.
You can...
