    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

After a longer trip recently I decided that more comfortable seats were sounding better and better. I havent found any that I really like that are close enough to me, the right color, or the right price. So I followed Sewerzuk's recent idea of using these "racing seats" from Oreilly. They are...

    Oil on front wheels

ditto- check or replace your axle vent breather along with whatever else you do or you will be doing the same job over soon.

    Air-O-Manual Steering

Yeah, the system does use a ton of air also. What I do like about the AOM is that your current stock steering system stays the same essentially but just adds air assist. So if you have no air or have a problem with the system where you want to disconnect it by closing its air valve, then you...

    Air-O-Manual Steering

I have one but haven't driven one without AOM. I believe the ram cylinder is a 5" diameter. It can still take a fair amount of muscle to turn the wheel when turning during real slow speeds (like when backing up to park) but its not ridiculous, more than any car I've given and more than I'd want...

Horn Repair and Steering Wheel Replacement

I replaced my horn button with the new style (self contained button), it had a short wire with connector that connected to a longer wire inside the steering column. I just reused the same long wire in the steering column rather than try to replace it. The only issue I had was the silly wire...

Deuce Front shock civi part numbers

Lowtech- thanks for doing your homework on this for us all! I know there are a couple good threads on shocks that this can get moved to. I'm also going to add the new part number you found to the info I include with my mrap wheel adapter instructions... Thanks again!

Where is the best deal on DOT 5 brake fluid these days?

Here is a brake thread I started for the deuce that has all sorts of part numbers in the first couple posts and also another source for some DOT 5 Brake Fluid ($27 a gallon).

    Those Military Guys HID Headlights

Trider, I feel bad for all the problems you are having on your truck....with new parts even. First the MRAP wheels, then the Headlights. If it makes you feel any better (misery loves company right). Many of us that have switched lights over to the LED type are having problems too and they just...

    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

Yeah, I actually bought some SSP brand reusable hose and fittings for this last year but it used a slightly smaller ID hose and the connectors weren't as idiot proof as I had hoped so I didn't trust my assembly of them. I ended up just having a hose made with the swaged fittings. If I had more...

    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

A couple other things I forgot to get pictures of yet are: -I also put a 80psi Air regulator BACK onto the Air-O-Matic steering setup. The truck/trailer just uses a ton of air (I'm not the best at backing up with this short trailer yet:))and I cant really tell a big difference in steering effort...

Can MRAP wheels be mounted "deep dish" style without flipping hubs?

You can just bolt them directly on the hub with no additional modifications or spacers. There might be some aluminum mrap rims out there that are so thick you may have some clearance issue with the bolt heads touching the brake drum but I think most all (if not all) will fit without any issue...

    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

Just got back from a week long camping trip with my family and the deuce to Hayward Wisconsin. I was a little nervous about the trip since I had done a few things to the truck just before heading out. I replaced the front fuel line(s) that go from the primary fuel filter to the Injector pump...

LED headlight gripe of the day

I have a similar problem with 4 of the 7 brand new military grote red led clearance lights. They come on for up to about a minute then stay off for at least 5 minutes before going on again. They must have had lots of issues with them because I can't find any reference to them on grote's site any...

Overhaul questions/ FDC bypass at Tooele? Always?

Yes I just bypassed mine this week. The threads on the IP and FDC (the ones you mess with for the bypass anyway) are 1/4 and 1/8 npt. Fuel lines that get moved are both 3/8" OD and 1/4" OD. ~To tweak the main fuel adjust after a bypass of the FDC you will need 2x thin 1/2" wrenches. ~To...

    FDC bypass question

That LDS465 TROUBLESHOOTING manual is really helpful. It definitely describes well how to set the main adjust and droop. Since it is for the LDS however, I assume the numbers given don't relate to the LDT465 right? The LDS numbers (converted to PSI) are: ~8.84-9.82 psi boost @ 2400rpm (under...

    FDC bypass question

Thanks Floridianson! I'll download the 465 troubleshooting. I've got the boost & pyro already and have been turning my fuel down a few times now based on where I want it to be egt wise. I did notice slightly more difficult starts so that's the reason for the droop questions. So I should be good...

    FDC bypass question

Thanks for the great clarification Stumps. I'm having a hard time telling from the pictures I'm looking at in the TM if there is a jamb nut on the Droop adjust set screw inside? If so the FDC top must come off to get to the jamb nut and adjust correct? I do have TM9-2910-226-34 open and am...

    FDC bypass question

I guess I didn't mention it but I did know where things were set to start with, I wrote down how many turns in flats I did but didn't have it handy when I wrote the question. I also have a boost and EGT gauge. I have a good running truck now (it was before the FDC bypass too though) but the...

    FDC bypass question

Is this statement right? I just bypassed my FDC and had lots of smoke so I turned the main adjustment counter-clockwise about 12-16 flats in the decrease fuel direction (I think, So fewer threads are showing anyway). I didn't touch the droop screw as mentioned. Am I reading this wrong or...
