Hello Ryan, I bought a deuce and a half from aliquippa. It had a pa title and an antique plate. We went to a local notary and had the title and plate transferred to me with no problems. I called hagerty insurance and had insurance on it with one phone call. By the way I'm from near uniontown pa.

I didn't explain myself completely. I'm wanting to reuse my old shaft and need to know how far the slip joint should be collapsed when sitting unloaded. I haven't drilled for the spring mounts yet so I can adjust forward or backwards when I figure out where to set the slip joint.
I'm trying to determine the rear axle position on my M35a2 that I'm bobbing. How far should the rear slip yoke be compressed without a load. I tried to post a pic but the site wouldn't let me.
Mine was worn or out of adjustment to the point that the springs were not compressed at all. An old mechanic I know said the springs should be compressed until the metal stubs inside of them touch and the backed of until you can get the cotter pin in. He said that was how they adjusted them on...
I tried a search not much came up. I removed, disassembled and cleaned the drag link on my deuce yesterday. How tight should I make the adjusters?? Just touching or should it compress the spring slightly. There was a good bit of play in the joints and nothing looked excessively worn.
Should I paint or just smear some grease between the leaves while I have them apart. I have already needle scaled off the little rust that was between them.
Found it on craigslist in northern Detroit for $300. Got springs mounting brackets u bolts shocks rubber bumpers the blocks that go under the springs the lower shock mount brackets and the upper shock mounts. I think I got it all.
Long drive but it was worth it. I'm gonna take the springs completely apart needle scale off any rust and replace the center bolts. One of the nuts on a center bolt is nearly rusted away.
Look everything over making sure it's safe for the road. Make more room in the seat for my large self and eventually bob it. It won't fit in my garage so I'm pouring a slab along the side of the garage for a safe work space.

I believe it's a good solid truck. I just don't want to hammer it down the highway that far if I don't have to and with it being winter I'd rather not deal with a breakdown in the cold!
I'm thinking I'll end up driving it home on a Sunday morning with a chase vehicle. I know the deuce is a non cdl truck. I was refer to driving a tractor and trailer myself to haul it.
