What in the world did I get myself into?!?!?

So, Kinda like a CUCV? I was surprised with it sitting in a field for probably 30 years that it was in such great shape. The inside is pretty messed up and the driver door takes the strength of a spartan to open and close, but I think it's going to be a fun build. The markings on it intrigue...

What in the world did I get myself into?!?!?

Dear SS friends... I am in need of some serious help. I have a close friend of mine who owns a dairy. :3dAngus: We were wondering around his dairy one day and I saw this truck. Instantly I knew I wanted it. Today he surprised me and brought it over. :jumpin: It strikes me as a military...

    Towing a CUCV

I'm towing with either the 26' U haul truck or, my neighbor may make the drive with me and tow it with his Duramax. I do not have a tow bar but I was just found out I may have access to a tandem axle trailer with a 12K lbs limit. That would make life a whole lot easier.

    Towing a CUCV

That would be a picture I'd be interested in seeing. Sounds like Flat Tow is the best option. I just need to find a hitch nearby.

    Towing a CUCV

I should probably clarify... The CUCV currently doesn't start. Hence the need for towing it. My bad. Sorry.

    Towing a CUCV

Hey, I'm sure this question has been asked before, and it'll probably be asked again. But, here goes. My wife and I are moving our family (about 210 miles from where we are now.) I've got my CUCV (m1008 ) that I want to take with me. So, I called U haul to ask them about their car hauler...

    Engine paint colors

Depends if you're doing an accurate/true period restoration, or if you're just playing around. If you're playing around there are some really cool color schemes you can do. Accurate restoration? Yeah... couldn't help ya. I'm just getting into this too.

1984 Chevy D30 What did I get myself into?

Okay. So, the truck is home, and I've been tinkering with it here and there. I charged one of the batteries and it got up to 13 volts. The second battery I think is garbage or has a bad cell because I can't get it over 10 volts. BUT, the real question (that was just setting up for the...

1984 Chevy D30 What did I get myself into?

Awesome! I need to find a junk yard that has parts for it. Yesterday I ended up spending four hours at the fire station switching out the 15 inch rims that were on it with 16's that were on another rig (Also a CUCV), robbing the pintle hook and number plate from the front, and a front bumper...

    2014 VIN Info Thread

That's the registration number that was on the driver side door jam plate. Would the "contract number" help any? Or an image of the plate? The truck is home now... So I can give you any information you need... as long as someone tells me where to find it :) This is my first CUCV.

1984 Chevy D30 What did I get myself into?

So, manufacture date is 7/84, and there are 57878 miles on it. Just found out from Chief. He talked to his officers, looks like he's gonna strip the emergency light bar off the top, put 16" wheels on it (keeping the good tread for another brush truck) then I can bring it home. I am going over...

I've been browsing the stickies. LOTS of good info there. Tonight Chief is approving the deal with the department officers. Once I get the green light, I could have this in my driveway by late tonight!! maybe tomorrow! Wasn't able to stop on my way to work to check miles. I'm waiting to...
