m1009 noise
Mine was making a noise like that and it turned out to be the "back support bracket" on the starter that goes from the round part of the starter to the engine block was loose and vibrating. Tightened both screws up and the noise was gone.

its a 2 cycle. It is very heavy. You ought to try to cut with it. It has the one-half inch pitch chain. You have to be a real man to operate it, set the spike by the motor in the log and let it eat. It really throws out big chunks of wood for chips.
