Well, I would start shopping for a comm system. I don’t think any amount of insulation, noise deadening material, etc... will be enough to overcome the exhaust stack right next to the cab, the roar of six big super-single tires, and the clattering/whistling Cummins on the other side of the firewall.
Love the vintage pics. Thanks for posting, Jon. I didn’t realize the Seabees used so many pipeline trucks, but it makes sense if you think about it. That’s really cool that Keith’s is so close numerically to mine. I wonder if they were attached to the same unit at some point?
Check out the brass Navy data plate for this truck. I’m wondering, given the scarcity of these pipeline trucks, if this was one of the only examples registered by the USN. Have any of you guys seen another Navy M756A2?
Oooooh yeah. I forgot about that. I had a chance to buy a M125 once, but I didn’t have the cash at the time. Hopefully, I’ll get another chance one of these days.
Congrats on the new truck! Sounds like you bought a good one! I daily-drove a 1009 for about 8 or 9 years and a 1008 for another year or so. They’re great trucks once you work the bugs out of the 12/24 electric system.
It’s here!! The trunnion is finally here!! Special thanks to Ken aka kennys@wi.rr.com and Bob aka Neophyte for making this happen! I’ll be getting a bunch of detailed measurements for Bob so he can make a CAD file for future reference.
Hi Randy! That’s awesome! It would be great to have someone who’s familiar with AOAA to help plan trail rides, etc... It would be nice to come up with several options for SS and MVPA members. There may be some guys who just want to cruise the fire roads, others who want to tackle the really...
Be sure to order your 20th Anniversary gear before rally season starts! Show your SS pride with a T-shirt, a door magnet for your truck, a mug, and lots of other cool swag!
For those of you who have already purchased some SS stuff, please post up some pics and let us know how you like it!
