Save the Date 28-31 May 2025 51st Annual East Coast Military Vehicle Rally Hagerstown Aviation Museum

I plan on attending that Friday, not as a vendor, though. I love the new venue, and always look forward to seeing friends and attending the auction on Friday afternoon. See everyone there!

Do we know how long the auctions will continue?

I don't sorry, I wasn't bidding on them myself. To be honest I can't even remember what base they were at. I just save pics and crap on my computer forever and ever. :)

Do we know how long the auctions will continue?

I remember going to auctions in the late 1990s when you still had to be there and raise a paddle, they were selling a few HMMWVs then, but they were basically carcasses, scrap metal. Results of failed parachute drops or range targets. Once in a while a whole body would come out by itself, but...

Denton Military Show April 26-27, 2025

Now that I'm closer to NC than MD, I might have to attend this rally and forego my usual haunt of Aberdeen/Hagerstown. I've heard good things about Denton...

    Oh yes!

HEY! I don't appreciate that BS! That fireball was only 200 feet high, 300 tops. :)

What did you do to your trailer today.

Debating a quick restore on my M332 trailer that I purchased from Scrounger before he passed. After a couple years trying to sell it as-is, the only people who have shown interest in it in the condition it's in are landscapers (who will be hating life after they realize it's too heavy for its...

    Oh yes!

I'll be the first to say that a little so-called "white noise" actually puts me to sleep, but I think this is a little too much. You'd wake up fully refreshed...but you'd be deaf.

M1009 antenna bracket mounting points, hardware

Thanks, all, for the info. For the life of me I couldn't remember what those rivnuts were called! I am torn between removing the ones in place and putting new ones in the same location, or just drilling new holes slightly offset from the original location and putting new rivnuts there.

M1009 antenna bracket mounting points, hardware

So I have completed my move to the new location, and getting set up for the next MV project which is refurbishing the CUCV 1009 I got from Scrounger's estate. A noticed several of the fittings where the antenna mounting brackets go into the side body sheet metal are either seized up (can't...

20-21 September 2024 Redball Military Transport Rally and Huge Military Flea Market

I have some pics I took at the show, sorry I am not posting them sooner, I have been really busy with a move to a new place, new job, etc. the last month. Anyways, as usual the show was great, lots of vendors and show vehicles this time. Weather was perfect for the entire show, which is a...

CUCV and trailer no. VA to so. VA

Getting things lined up for a move in about a month. If you have any recommendations about a good shipper for a fair price let me know. Items to be moved are a running CUCV M1009 (approx. 5500 lbs) plus a M332 ammo trailer (2700 lbs). Distance to be travelled is from Front Royal VA to the...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

11-12. I rarely see field telephones at hamfests. Here's some WW1 field telephones for $350 each, the WWII/Korean War era EE-8s are $75. The EE8s are a good price, not sure about the WW1 phones, but how often have you seen any WW1 electronics? 13. My buddy Nick K4NYW was set up selling, he...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Well, this is the last big hamfest I plan on going to this year, the Berryville VA hamfest which was last Sunday, 8/4. Very good turnout, the weather was nice but humid. Lots of gear there for sale, and the prices were mostly very good. Here's the mil electronics gear seen at the event: 1...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Hard to believe, but I haven't been to a hamfest since last October - life has a way of throwing things in your path, and work was my obstacle. Not LACK of work, TOO MUCH work, every time an event came up I wanted to attend, we had more jobs to do than guys to do them, so mandatory work...
