I have a M1061 and am doing general maintenance and clean up. looks like i need to replace several of the hydraulic hard lines to the wheel cylinders. I've read the TM, but only find master cylinder replacement info. i will need to bleed the system. question is, unlike a car master cylinder...
I have been chasing a hydraulic issue (M936A1) on the main crane system and have a general question on how the system operates that i can't figure from the TM's. Does the hydraulic pump run full flow through the crane control body and back to the tank when no action is given. then for example...
936 guys
a while back i install a pressure gauge to monitor pressure at the supply side (hi pressure) of the control valve body. after reviewing the TM's they showed a location to do exactly this - to monitor pressure - TM ( TM 9-2320-272-24-2 , section 3-389. PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE...
doing some front end maintenance on my M936A1 and noticed my front brake pads were worn more on the leading edge and trailing edge than in the middle. TM states pads are good till the bevel is gone. my bevel is near perfect in the middle of the pad but at least 30-40% gone on the ends. like...
I have a M1061A1 trailer and one of the leveling jacks appears to not be working (mine has square legs), handle turns but the leg does not retract or extend. the manual TM-9-2330-376-14 only shows the leg as a unit and no interior details as to how it works. So two questions:
has any one...
Been doing hub PM's and did not have a nice "soft" seal driver big enough for the hub axle seal. probably not the first to dream this up but --made this up out of PVC 3 in drain pipe. and you can make it long enough to easily drive the seal home with no risk of dents and can tap it in square...
Question, what is the best way to remove a damaged wheel stud? hub is already off the truck.
hit it with a BFH? (and tricks to this technique?)
press it out ?
Other?
and for future learning reference where would this be covered in which TM? I seem to only have parts and operation...
am doing my PM's on my front hubs (M936a1) and have finished one front wheel. started to pull the inner seal on the other and broke my seal puller. then realized this side does not look like the other. it has a big copper washer - ring seal that appears to be in front of the normal inner...
Doing front axle PM on a M936A1, and found the following "little" bit of oil on the back of the brake pad, seems to be coming from the brake cylinder. no fluid on the pads face or any where in the hub area, only this little bit on the back.
I did not think they contained any fluid (or am I wrong...
Have M936, speedo will work for a bit and drop to zero, then reengage for a bit, then drop out, finally pulled out gauge panel to solve this and another issue, unhooked the cable from the gauge - unhooked the other end out of the transfer case. pulled each end, the cable does not appear broken...
having a fuel gage issue (M936) and am reading TM 9-2320-272-23-1 pp 0107-5, checking the wires and fuel switch - step f states to connect circuit 28 to red lead, and step g. black to ground, then step h states meter reading should be 5 to 8 vdc... totally clear. what confuses me is the...
Trailer experts
I have a M1061 trailer which i pull behind my M936a1. everything is stock. I have noticed if i run the trailer empty with the air brakes hooked up, on anything other than pavement, they will lock up pretty easy. once loaded, the brakes operate perfectly. I have not run it...
Back ground info
I noticed my crane (M936A1) seemed to be running slower (hydraulic operations) yesterday, not sure if governor RPMs are down a bit or not, was running at 1500rpm yesterday, can't remember if it used to run just a bit faster (1600-1700?). could 100 rpm make a noticeable...
Question? have been reluctant to drive/park on anybody's residential (~4 in concrete) driveway for fear of cracking it. any experience out there? assuming the driveway is sound, is 4 in sufficient to support the extra weight of the wrecker? i do drive it on my paver drive way with no affect...
Did not want to replace the voltage regulator (again) on my original 60 amp alternator, so up graded to the Delco 33si 100 amp (classified section see SS-74M35A2, easy to work with). it is bigger and you eliminate all the operator error issues with the original (improper shut down sequence)...
Experts on Wrecker operation (M936A1)
Have been going over the TM's, and realized i don't know the difference between the spring brake override switch (the one on the far right of the pnl) and the PTO spring brake override switch (located on the right side and just under the steering wheel). I...
after a bit of searching TM 92320-272-10 and site and no luck on info on alternator rebuilding (i'm sure its been covered somewhere). here's my question - i pulled my alternator (M936A1), to replace the voltage regulator, no problem, but while it was off i figured i check/grease the bearings...
my generator (MEP-831) ran poorly when i got it, after following the TM with no improvement i got the new governor from Kloppk (highly recommended) and when adjusted per the TM it would still not run quite right but much better (surging). a bit of tweeking and i found by setting the gap a bit...
All
My 831 - i got it running pinned, great, but would surge if allowed to be on the electric governor. so followed the TM, got it gap'ed correctly, and no load speed set at 178 volts. with no load seems to run steady (10 or so minutes) not varying more than a volt or two for long periods then...
First a thanks to Kurt for hitting the nail on the head in a PM. Pin the set and it runs fine.
Now the new issue. my 831A appears to run perfectly on the mechanical governor, starts, takes load, rejects load, no-load etc... perfect as long as I hold the electric governor off. once I let the...
