It's very easy to talk now. My M1028 is actually louder now with it's new low restriction mufflers. Of course you cannot roll-down the windows or open the front windshield and talk.
Just so you know I also put DynaMat in the doors. That really helped with the vibration noise on the road.
Good to see input from this as I'm planning to do the same to the 109. I have the whole cab pulled apart to repaint and dynamat it. Is it quiet enough now for normal conversation? My main reason is for noise because I take this on long trips and have passengers and radios to talk to the other...
...rear window and there are several gaps on the firewall (like the steering column area) that need covering. I have a hard top and did install DynaMat there too. I also need to install a heavy floor-mat. Also my door window seals are not that good. So add everything up and there is still plenty...
I layed the mat down on the floor after painting the floor. I also put it on the firewall and ceiling and underneath the hood.
I plan on adding a hard rubber mat for the floor later. On the rear wall of the lower cab I installed a reinforcement plate and before I installed it I put 2" styrene...
Rusty--I presume the mat is on the inside of the floor as opposed to below the floor. Did you then cover the Dynamat with a rubber floor mat? or similar that covers the entire floor? Did you also cover the inside fire wall and rear wall of the cab? Sorry for all the ???, just wanted to know...
HanksDeuce wanted me to check the noise levels in my cab since I installed the "Dynamat" liner. So here they are. Just a note that I forgot to cover the steering column hole in the firewall so the actual noise level would be lower then the pictures show.
I actually took five pictures but only...
...leak I need to fix and I've been running it with the doors and top off but, I'd bet with with the same treatment I did and something like Dynamat or even Lizard Skinning the X-doors, it would be an improvement.
I do think I may be installing some thermal mat on the underside of the truck at...
I used "DynaMat" and the butyl rubber will not allow any moisture underneath it. It has an Aluminum backing which is pretty tough. I plan on installing a rubber floor mat later but the DynaMat provides excellent noise reduction and prevents heat transfer. The only problem with DynaMat is the...
I can appreciate just how much work this is! Incredible. But you even did the floor and doors, all while installed! I had the luxury of doing the hard top while off the truck - which has got to be so much easier than what you just went through.
...purchase. What sold me was that it only had 4500 miles on it and everything works. It's not loud but the floor gets pretty hot even with the Dynamat covering the entire bottom of the cab. This truck has no floor insulation or mat on the inside and we drove 15 hours straight at peak rpm. I am...
I bought an intake silencer and the OEM GM plumbing for it, but I'm going to pick up a civilian air-filter housing to wrap in dynamat and an acoustic blanket first. That gets the "ping" out of the air filter housing, covers the injector lines, and gives a place to put a pair of valve cover...
...on the subject:
I take the seat out, wash the crud off the floor & fix any rust and treat with rust inhibitor,
Next I put down Rammat, like Dynamat, then paint with Lizard skin & paint with CARC substiute.
Finish off with OEM style rubber mat with no water holding insulation underneath.
I...
...found in the firewall and the floor.
Next - installed a hood blanket from LMC. This also made a significant difference in engine noise . Dynamat extreme inside the front doors and lots of it. Several 2'x2' or a bit smaller pieces of acoustic sound dampening foam [ egg crate looking stuff ]...
...the bedliner doing? It's adding mass to the panel, which increases the energy required to move it. One's expectation should not be that a dynamat or bedliner application is going to kill all of the noise as it is very tightly coupled with the body panel itself if the panel moves the...
...in the doors and lined the cab floor with mega mat then covered it with the LMC rubber floor. I wouldn't spend the extra money on the dynamat again, the mega mat appeared to be the same thickness and material for less than half the price. I was also told the under hood insulation makes the...
