Replaced std doghouse with turbo doghouse, added foot extensions to radio tray to fit turbo doghouse, and added a pair of fans. Plan is to fit a couple extra layers of Dynamat in turbo doghouse and see if it quiets things down any.
I've used dynamat on tractors, anyone try it on the HMMWV?
I've also considered this: http://amzn.to/2u6hWk9 Works great for sound, but is fragile and does not help with heat.

The peel and seal by itself was a huge reduction in NVH, but the padding and carpet took it to the next level. Also noticed it was cooler during hot days and stayed warmer longer during cold days after shutting off the truck. It was no miracle, but it was noticeable.
The 5 ton cab is pretty...
That stuff looks like DynaMat which I know is really good at dropping interior road noise considerably, but is also a bit pricy. I forgot about using the Lowes/HomeDepot stuff for roofing. Although I don't care about trying to talk in the truck, it would be nice to make it a little quieter.
I like to put heat/sound deadner (dynamat was the original) in mine. I comes in rolls that you stick to floors, tunnel etc. and roll it down. It conforms to the contours of the panels and edges and can then be painted if you wish or put down factory insulation (expensive) on top. It has an...
...to repair.
There isn't much room for the exhaust to go under the truck but I'm not counting that out yet.
I ordered some 80 mil noico, like dynamat. After I set some baseline numbers I'm going to paint and undercoat the inside of the hood. That's a lot of real estate.
Headphones would work...
...going to run it again and get a definitive baseline before I start sound proofing.
My plan is to rubberize undercoat under the hood and cab. Dynamat or equivalent the firewall interior and inside the doors. And cut a heavy rubber mat for the floor. I also am considering a muffler. I am...
...HMMWVs have both issues.
2) LizardSkin is being installed as part of a review. The products were sent for the review. We will also apply some DynaMat, probably to the bottom of the bigger panels, after we have used the LizardSkin for a while.
3) Because truck bed liner is only appropriate for...
...engine compartment insulation I can find is that their design seems to use open cell foam as opposed to a butyl rubber (like Boom Mat or Dynamat). This means it will probably hold water so it might be a good idea to get their edge seal tape which comes in 1" or 2" widths for the appropriate...
...comforts.
LizardSkin-TM is a substance you want to look into. You spray sound deadening and then heat shield over it. If that is not enough, Dynamat tapes over it but Dynamat is unattractive IMHO so you will need to cover with fabric or carpet. LizardSkin is meant to accept paint.
Interior...
...might rebuild the steering wheel lock (ACE has cable, aluminum pieces, I have a swaging tool), replace the steering wheel shaft boot, put dynamat insulation on the driver's side firewall, replace the little plastic doo-dads inside the gas pedal bracket so it's more solid/less wobbly, and...
Been trying to decide on which "flavor" of Dynamat to buy. Or Kool-mat. Or Noico. Which one did you use and how many square feet (about) have you installed? Did it help?
Thanks in advance.

I am working on sound deadening too. This dynamat equivalent material first followed by closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl. I will also work on the hood and side panels since they vibrate so much.
I used both the Lizard Skins, the soundproofing and thermal protection after I stripped out the cab. I then used Dynamat on the firewall inside and custom cut stall mats from Tractor Supply for the floor area. I used a table saw to cut up the mats, that seemed to work well and was able to make...
I have used this stuff on my CUCV, the M35, and the M54. It works exceptionally well. Easy to cut and work and really lasts. After cleaning the floors, painting with epoxy and spraying with Eastern's rust hogging rubberized undercoat, I apply NOICO matting. Less expensive but heavy to ship. I...
For those considering doing this there is a cheaper version of the dynamat material on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Noico-deadening-automotive-Insulation-dampening/dp/B00URUIKAK/
A friend of mine used it in his bronco and he's happy with it.
