    Battery disconnect switch

I second the don't do it line of thought. My reasons are this. The 6.2 is probably the most depended on tight clean starting cirucit connections vehicle I have ever messed with. Adding more connections to come loose, corrode or break will not help you. Then there is the switch itself. Most...

    M1009 Speedometer Calibration

The inline gear box is just on the M1009. That way, all the gears for the other CUCV trucks are the same in the tcase. Because the M1009 has the 3.08:1 axles, it needs the convertor box. Thanks for posting what you found.

    Engine Noise

The metal vacuum line for the transmission will vibrate against the floor too. I zip tied mine to the transmission fill tube to keep that noise away.

Brake Pedal - Power Assist Issue

Wheel cylinder rebuilt kits are less than $5.00 each. OD Iron, Rapco, ABLinn and many other suppliers. New wheel cylinders are in the $25 each range. Way to cheap to drive with one leaking. Fix them all before you drive.

    M116A2 camper

One reason to change the hubs if not the entire axle is spare tires. Put 6 lug hubs that match the 1009 on there and that problem is gone. Another thing to think about is a pop up type design. Nice flat air foil shaped top for driving, raise the roof as much as you want for changing clothes...

    dash lights not working

Does your horn work? If not, then attention needs to be paid to the black out light switches. If your horn works, then. The gauge cluster is basically a normal Chevy part. That means the silly flexible printed circuit stuff could be messed up or broken. I would recommend you pull the gauge...

    Using the winch correctly

Small kids on tires work good too.

    CUCV Speedometer Callibration

Most threads about CUCV tires end up talking about speedometer calibration and what gears to change out. Most of us don't have a friendly Chevy parts guy anymore since they all closed down. I found this site which list all the gears available, the color so you don't have to count your teeth...

    CUCV headlight aiming bolt fix

I have read several post in the past about those stupid plasic "nuts" the headlight aiming bolts screw into. The plastic threads strip if you look at them wrong and replacements from the "help" section of your local parts store are even worse. My drivers side up/down screw "nut" stripped out a...

Brake Pedal - Power Assist Issue

My assistant principal was one of the drivers of some car in that race. I will have to ask him if he had the pink #6 and then make fun of him about it. Glad you got the right tools to have at it.

Brake Pedal - Power Assist Issue

You are correct and I am wrong. I changed the original post. Thanks.

    where to ride

You wanting tough trails or just a nice drive through the country? Land Between The Lakes is just a few hours from you over in KY. Lots of trails a M35 will fit on, 5 or 6 different camp grounds, a drive through buffalo range where you can probably scare all the animals and basically miles and...

Brake Pedal - Power Assist Issue

1-1/2" BUDD socket. The socket you need is for semi trucks. It will have the 1-1/2" for the outter rear and front lugs. Then inside, it has the 13/16 square drive needed to pull the rear inner lugs. Most NAPA stores have them, as well as truck stops and just about anyplace that deals with heavy...

    Correct trailer for a M1009

Mckoen, Pawnshop, 813Rc and myself continued this discussion at our local LSMVPA meeting last night. We have all pulled M101 trailers with our M1009's. The book might not say you are supposed to do it, but they go together like they were made for each other. One reason that has been pointed...

    Correct trailer for a M1009

I see how it goes. I make fun of your M37 body and you start pointing out things about me. Thanks alot Joe. Now I have to pick back. Page 2-57, paragraph 2-14, sub section a (1) of the 9-2320-289-10 clearly states that the M1009 is only supposed to pull trailers from the M416 1/4 ton...

    M101 manuals

The manuals for all the vehicles pretty much cover the items in use at the time of publication and go back to at least one previous version if there was such a thing. With the trailers, if you have one that covers the brakes in either an A2 or A3, you pretty much have everything you need to...

Hmm, can't add a picture with the edit button. Here it is.

    Correct trailer for a M1009

Which trailer, a M101 or M105? Forget the M105. Don't even hook it up. The M101 kind of depends on what you are doing. A few hundred pounds in a M101A2 with the surge brakes that work is no problem. Hauling a ton or so of gravel is not a good idea. The stock pintle would probably hold, but the...

    Brakes

I have to jump in again. The air compressor on the engine puts air in the air tanks. The air in the tanks is then used for the air pack with the brakes, air horn if the truck has one, air wipers and constant air for the emergency break away safety brakes of a M105A3 trailer. The air pack...

    starting issues

I was wrong. I got home and tried it 3 times. Power on, buzzer blaring the needle is right on the line between yellow and green. I hit the button and it drops below the red, then bounces back up while the engine is cranking to the line between red and yellow. As soon as it starts, the gauge...
