    Anyone ID this 6x6?

RE: Re: RE: Anyone ID this 6x6? What they want is a big oshkosh Firetruck, but that's not cheap at all. Hmm, I wonder if there's money in making crew-cab deuces for fire departments?

    gasser parts

RE: Re: RE: gasser parts Do the gassers have air or electric horns? I have a mind to tap in a second horn set and run those from the air solenoid. I have some Every Thursday anti-war protesters I want to give a Honk at. And since I don't have an easy source for Nathan K5s....

Wayne Harris has a copy (PDF on his website) of the systematic inspection procedure for the deuce. [edit] I thought it was Wayne. I'll have to check the copy I have at work.

    Behind the bumper chain lockers...

I like the rack, but I'm thinking somewhere else would be preferable. I'm not sure where though. Perhaps inside the bed on a fold out mount or something. I do worry that I'll come back from inside a store and find one of the tools missing. I'm torn on dropping the Spare tire mount too in favor...

    starter/battery price?

I have a bum battery in my Deuce. I've looked at Interstate who what's $130 per 6TL. Voltex has them for $160 each. I'm waiting to see if the local Batteries Plus can get them for $130 or less.

    Behind the bumper chain lockers...

Part of the idea is that it provides walking space AND has the chains and blocks up front where they're needed for rigging. Just a few feet less to walk, but when you're recovering having everything right there and being able to clean up, check each box at a glance and know the blocks and the...

    Behind the bumper chain lockers...

The other aspect for a larger top mounted door is it's easier to get things like those snatch blocks in and out. also easier to see what I'm looking at. As far as water goes, I can put a seal around the edge of the opening and get a good weather tight seal.

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 The differential is going to have zero resistance on one side and some amount of resistance on the other, drive input on that pumpkin is going to make that differential set spin one side more than the other because even just based on mass and not rolling resistance...

    Behind the bumper chain lockers...

RE: more space I thought about that, but I'd rather have a flat deck there that I can easily walk around on when servicing the engine. Some diamond plate that has antiskid paint on it that's also flush with the bumper would be ideal on either side. Jerry cans can be stored in a strap metal...

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 The problem that Squirttruck outlined was that the differential spider gears will be screaming as you run down the road.

    Behind the bumper chain lockers...

So, part of making my deuce more useful to a single user vs its original design of 1 of many vehicles in an area, involves my plans on additional storage under the bed as well as behind the bumper. The Front bumper area, especially on a winch truck, doubles as a walkway for the front of the...

    trailer lights

Only way to control the brakes is to add a 12 volt system to your truck and run a pair of wires for the trailer's power. Now, nice thing is that the 5 tons have a 24 volt power lead on the trailer harness so you can run that as a 24 volt power feed to run accessories on the trailer (like...
