After searching for a good hour, I have learned everything there is to know about CUCV horn diodes and that there are over half a dozen threads about off-centered steering wheels................ and there are lots of folks who can't get their horns to work, but nothing like what I have. I...
****** ADDITIONAL WAY TO POST STARTS IN POST #33 ******
A couple of members have PM'd me, asking for help in posting pictures.
I decided to take some time to help folks out this morning by (crudely) photoshopping a walk-through type tutorial for our members who are not computer proficient but...
I debated as to whether to create a new thread or include this in the existing threads about lego MV's ( http://www.steelsoldiers.com/conversations/6178-deuce-made-out-legos.html and http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/7525-lego-deuce.html and...
My friend Dave (who isn't on SS) has 2 M101CDN (they look like M416s) trailers which his company uses for civil engineering and landscaping jobs.
One of his employees absolutely totally destroyed a bearing today, so he needs new inner and outer bearings, races and seals.
Does anyone have any...
Does anyone have a deuce with the stencil shown in the picture?
This is a truck that sold on ebay 4 or 5 years ago, I believe in Massachusetts. I think the wanring stencil says "Caution Drop both sides when loading or unloading with a forklift" but I can't be 100% sure as I can't blow the...
Que the Wagner-it’s time for the 2010 Steel Soldiers Georgia Rally (10SSGR)!
Please read this entire thread, as it should cover 99% of questions about the rally. Dates, location, lodging, activities, food, etc; it’s all here.
If you are unfamiliar with the SSGR, then check out the after...
So clintogf has this pretty nice gun ring truck she got from Redstone. Whistler, radials, air shift and the cab plate and 3 ring legs.
I went to pull the battery box out so I could retrofit it with a pair of brand new Optimas and adapters* and I find it's an old school metal one.
I don't...
I am designing a portable converter box for trailering operations and I have some relay questions.
I need a generic relay, capable of say, 20A. I want it to be triggered using a 24V source, but control the flow of a 12V circuit (I think the diagram I have posted below explains this more...
Since I have to replace the bent driveshaft on my Mule, as long as I am there, I need to correct a slow leak from the front differential. A little bit of gear oil will slowly leak out of the drum, so it has to be one of the seals behind the yoke.
According to the TM, it looks like there is a...
The bed on my A2 dump conversion truck is trashed so I bought a nicer A3 bed for it. The A3 already has clearance lights and cargo tie downs, saving me from having to install them on an A2 bed.
But I notice the A3 bed has the cab cover style retention hooks on the front. This isn't uncommon...
I got to meet SS member Charlie (Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite - View Profile: Charlie) yesterday. He's the Mule guru and I had a little accident last September with my Mule and bent the driveshaft. He sold me a driveshaft at a great price and then drove 30 miles to meet me as I...
Or "How I learned I should have bought a Dually instead of a half ton".
So somehow (don't ask me how) clintogf talked me into going and picking up these rebuilt deuce air shift transfer cases she bought. I borrowed my buddy David's car trailer and left here at 5am in the F-150. I bought a new...
I am considering purchasing a pull-behind equipment type trailer for use behind the Deuce and something bigger (8)) in the future. I think I will buy something like what's pictured, a 10 ton pintle pull with tandem axles and duals. I want to be able to haul a Deuce on the trailer. A trailer...
Clinto g/f has this parts deuce that a good friend has very graciously allowed to graze on his fine field grass for a while and I need to get it home.
But it's missing all the steering gear other than the drag link-steering box, column, etc. It has the drag link, so both wheels are connected...
Hey fellas,
So I want to crimp some new connectors onto large (1, 2, 4 gauge) cables and when I remember seeing some giant crimpers for these large connectors. They look like bolt cutters but they have a different head.
See an example at the bottom of this page:
Crimpers (part # T-CR-461)...
It is time once again to begin planning for the Steel Soldiers Ga. Rally!
The 2009 event is the 3rd annual SS Ga. Rally (4th if you count the 2006 cookout at my house).
If you are considering coming to the rally, check out what we did at previous rallies:
2007...
So I have finished rebuilding the carb on our '55 M38A1. The Jeep is mostly original, but of course, it's missing it's original Carter YS-950 carb, replaced with the ubiquitous Carter YF.
I wanted to get the Jeep running quickly and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars to obtain and...
Tomorrow morning, Clinto g/f & I will depart around 0400 to pick up a Deuce at Redstone. We anticipate being there around 0800 (we will gain an hour on the way due to time change).
I have the F-150 loaded up with tools, oil, coolant, gear oil, spare parts, etc.
Anyone going to Redstone...
I think most of us are familiar with the headlights used on armor, a lot of us have used them (or are planning to) as spotlights and reverse lights.
However, reading one of Austin Aviation's eBarf auctions this morning, I noticed something...
