Hey Group,
Sorry to take so long getting back to this, I've been really busy this week and fighting a cold.
There's under-dash heaters in both trucks, I attached a pic... neat! Also, there's an ether start system on one of the trucks.
I've replied to the PMs I've recieved so far, here's some...
For anyone that's looking for a complete truck, that one is the way to go. I haven't seen it in person, but from what I've heard (word gets 'round ya know) it's very nice. If I had the funds I'd get it myself.

I keep mine in the tool box, but Dave Walker's Air Force deuce which I am working on has "DO NOT PUT CHOCKS IN HERE" stenciled on the tool box door. I thought, uh, why not? ...That's exactly where I put my chocks! Why would the air force not want chocks in the tool box?
As for the stop cable...
Sure do! ....That's Walker Auto & Truck Wrecking's eBay name. Dave is a good friend. I'm fixing up his personal deuce right now, it's in my driveway. It's an air force truck, hadn't run in many years, engine was apart and radiator missing when he got it from DRMO Barstow around 5 years ago...
I have a lot of diesel powered stuff... I didn't get a letter for my Mercedes sedan, M35, or my M52, but I did for my two Ford F250s. I don't know why....
I don't think so... In CA, pickup trucks ARE commercial vehicles, registered by GVWR. The deuce would be ~16k-21k depending on what you told them it's GVWR was. Besides, the warning letter I got from the DMV for my two Ford F250 diesels stated that the law was (going to be) for ALL DIESEL...
One last possibility before you go through the trouble of making one, if you haven't already tried it, is to Google the NSN number for the part you need. Most likely, you will come up with a supplier... How much they want for the part is another matter!

Unless you're installing shoulder belts, I think having the steering wheel closer is safer in a collision... Your body will have less time to accelerate before striking the wheel. Either way, you're gonna break your face on the steering wheel hub.

Why not just buy a regular cargo deuce and put an ag tank in the back? ...Because your basic premise - that an M37 can be had cheaper than a deuce - is incorrect. An M35 is by far the most affordable American military vehicle, period. They are so plentiful that they get sold for the price of...
...Note that the REB kit for the M211 and the REB kit for M35 variants are different - the kit for the M211 is for the automatic transmission and the kit for the M35s is for the transfer case. Memphis calls both of them "REB Kits" even though they're totally different.

I think that "Historic Vehicle" license plates will be the only way to avoid repowering the truck or installing a particulate filter and reburn system. This is not in effect yet, but you can bet it's coming soon to our (insert derogatory adjective here) state.
Jon
Hey Guys,
I got a lot of PMs, I'll check on prices and get more detailed pictures of some items and get back to everyone ASAP... I should be able to go over to the lot and see them again on Monday, I'll report back then.
Absolutely - I could towbar one to my house and keep it here if needed...
Unless you live where it's perpetually cold, those cannisters should last for years, as the ether system is only activated when the coolant and ambient temperatures are below certain levels - usually 45 degrees for the ambient, I can't remember what it is for the coolant.
The automatic ether...
Thanks for the explanations... It was hard to picture using a tool to fix a problem I've never had...
Do glow plugs sometimes swell and get stuck even when using a factory timer/controller? I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on my Fords (same glow plugs as the 6.2/6.5) and been through...
So the drive shaft for the front axle is going to be three feet longer? Are you going to make it a 2-piece with a pillow block on the frame? That suckers gonna be long....
Very interesting project... 8-)
