When I got my truck, the coolant switches that activate the fan were incorrect (and judging by the corrosion patina on them, had been that way for a decade). You may need to look through how it's all wired up. The fan should fail to the on position - it's on by default, and the system turns it...
Probably not worth a sticky, but would be nice to add to the parts spreadsheet post. Really, we should just cut out the couple small sections of this that actually represent FMTV engines, too.
There is only one section for the C7, and 3126, but which of the 3116's can FMTVs have?
3116 (2FR...
Eh, I don't blame them. There is no money in it here, so it's not going to help their business much. The DIY community wants everything cheap or free, so it makes sense for them to chase the mining and oil companies with deep pockets (e.g. who want it done NOW, at whatever cost).
Rudeness aside, my guess is that when they started posting initially, they really didn't think through who they were targetting. These are the guys at Acela, so by the time they posted here they had already sunk a ton of time and money into starting a real business to sell $100k+ trucks. Most...
Perhaps, but they weren't really around long enough to find out, it didn't seem. They made a bunch of posts with lofty claims, and within a few weeks they stopped posting completely.
Where are you broken down at in Colorado? I'm in Colorado.
I tried to warn you in the other thread that you couldn't put the new-style fan on the old-style clutch. I have an old-style fan, if you need that.
Nope. It sat in the saddle/dish on top of the jack. One person kept a hold of the gears, and one slid the jack.
It would probably work better with a transmission saddle on the jack, but it never felt overly-precarious. (And I'm not the type of person to do blatantly stupid things that are...
There has been a rash of posts on the Facebook page of people destroying stuff because of unbalanced driveshafts lately. One guy cracked his engine block, just like I did.
Also take note that there are two generations of fans. The original one is all plastic (I've got one if you need it) and uses the rubber bushings to go together. The newer one has a metal center hub. However, if you change to the newer fan, you also need to change to the newer fan clutch...
If you aren't aware, there is a military TM parts manual (-24P) for these trucks. That's the first place to start for part numbers, then work out from there, trying to cross reference with civilian part numbers. Many of the part numbers in the TM are already civilian numbers, especially...
