    A deuce tent

I have 30 or 40 nights sleeping in M35's as well. The wind will move the truck more than you might think. At an air show a few years ago the truck getting rocked by wind and rain kept waking me up. I was nice and dry inside and would just go back to sleep. The next morning shade canopies left...

To turbo or not to turbo 6.2 Diesel?

I ordered a banks kit a few months ago. Each bag of parts has a sticker on it listing what the bag is with a build date. As mentioned above. All of my kit was put together in 2016. You can still get them. Money invested wise if I were to do it again here is what I would do. Factory a/c...

    2017 TX MV Rally

We also every year have a person show up in a MV that hadn't posted or had ever even met any of us until that weekend. All are welcome.

    Is my M1009 24V or 12V?

It looks like your slave port is what the big red wire that is not hooked to the buss bar. Your drivers side alternator belt is too thin. I couldn't tell if it was the proper belt that has just worn down that way or if it started off as the wrong size belt.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I have to beg a camera from the art teacher. She had surgery a few weeks ago and will be back in another week. Then I can start begging again. I thought I was going to be watching the woodshop class this afternoon and have a rule about no tools come out unless it is just my students in the...

Started pulling the front axle apart. There was good grease in both front bearings. After the way the rear axle looked inside I was not expecting the front bearings to be worth anything. They cleaned up super nice with no wear marks or any visible defects. The rotors are shot and way below...

The hoses all got put back on this morning and the system pressurized. It held pressure for 45 minutes without loosing any. I consider that done. We added 2 inches to the rod which goes between the transfer case and back of the engine. That makes it fit just right. Waiting for the paint to...

    Bad Start Belt Whining Noise

3/8 hose from lift pump to filter. 1/4 hose from filter to ip. 1/4 hose for return lines. Unless you have a lot of slack adjustment room on your alternator brackets. I would suggest new belts. Once they start slipping, the belts get hot and glaze over. Pretty much making then prone to slipping...

    Is my M1009 24V or 12V?

Do you have two alternators? Are they both hooked up? Where does the 10 gauge red wire on the back battery ground terminal go? Where does the power cable going to the starter motor come from?

    Bad Start Belt Whining Noise

The starter motor really sucks the batteries down. With old or loose belts, one dry ip refilling will have those belts singing. Charge your batteries and try it again. After a charge and belt snugging up.

It was a fluke. I started cleaning the backing plate with a putty knife. I don't know if the water pump backing plate is painted or coated with something black at the factory. Whatever it is, it was solid when we pulled it off the engine a year ago. It was still solid when we put on the...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm frustrated with myself for not checking all these fittings when we put them together the first time. I actually did the thermostat one myself and then had a student who watched me do the other 4. The water pump backing plate just seems like a fluke...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

This week has been total frustration. I came in Monday with heater hose thinking once we put them on and it passed the pressure test I could let it run for more than a minute or so. Tuesday we found the thermostat housing leak. Wednesday another psi test showed the leaks at all 4 coolant...

    CUCV (M1009) Headlight Issue

1985 k5 blazer head light switch. Or, pretty much any GM vehicle of that era. The silverstar star lights don't like more than 14 volts. Check your alternators. Also, depending on where you bought them. They might have a year free replacement warranty. O'Reilly's told me that when I blew both...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Back on topic from disturbing baby pictures. I had written the other day how a M1009 front wiring harness plugged right in and at least the marker lights all worked. Yesterday I cleaned up my best set of front marker light lenses and put them on. The passenger side 1157 bulb didn't work when I...

Good news, bad news afternoon. The thermostat housing has no more leaks. But while spraying I saw bubbles at the base of the coolant crossover. I checked the other side and had a few there too. I sprayed the rear blocked off crossover passages and had bubbles there as well. 5 leaks at places all...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Using the air powered coolant flush machine I was able to hear a seep at one of the heater hose to heater core clamps. But, I couldn't hear anything else with the air of the machine working. This morning we went back to the hand pump and heater hose to the ear method. Tilting the radiator...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Got the heater hoses on this morning and went right to a cooling system pressure test. With a hand pump tester, it went right up to 12 psi. I walked away after not hearing any leaks. 5 minutes later it was sitting at 10 psi. UH oh! I did the hose in the ear sound test over every connection...

Passing power with the 4L80E or lack of

Those are good number Al. While you are waiting for the injectors. Start researching 6.2 IP timing. It is kind of a black magic process with the no longer made equipment. Without it, you are just guessing. I have 4 6.2 engines on the road just about daily in my family. Each one sounds...
