On my pick-up truck, the only reason when I use 4WD low, is to pull out stuck forklifts when they are mired in gravel.
On this 5 ton truck, I do not see a need, FOR ME, to use low transfer switch.
Still, on my original question, it is a lot less efficient to be pulling through mud and uneven...
I just read section 2.37 OPERATING IN DEEP MUD. I was left with a question: is it true that placing the vehicle in 6WD "LOW RANGE", locks in he differentials? Is there, in fact, a differential lock on these trucks?
For my pick-up truck, I have a diff. lock engaged when I select 4WD, which has...
It is there, near the steering column, but it is hard to find and get to, you need to shine a good light and get your body in there so that you can get your head all the way under.
OK, guys, sorry for shouting, but I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY TO REPORT THAT A NEW ABS ACU UNIT FIXED MY PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought a replacement unit on eBay. It arrived in a new sealed condition. I installed it, which was almost trivial. I had to disconnect old hoses, bring old unit in, move hose...
Just a data point. I own a semi tractor with a lowboy and have a class A driver.
Sparta is appx 250 miles away.
It costs me about $700 to send the truck, with the driver and a helper, to recover one vehicle. This is fuel, labor, and wear on the truck.
The truck is a 30 year old Ford LNT9000...
We are still thinking how we will put the semi tractor to work hauling my surplus stuff, forklifts and scrap metal.
The tractor has super singles. One aspect of this decision to consider, when these military tires wear out, can I replace them with 11R22.5 tires, I have a full set in my yard...
Yep. Call any mobile tire replacing outfit if you have a tire problem, chances are they have the civilian tires in stock and do not have the military ones. Plus, with duals, there is a little more redundancy.
Hi, I have a medical card, and hope to get a CDL next week. I do have a semi lowboy and driver, but I got two 5 tonners this week and we wanted to do it in one trip, hauling one and driving another.
If, say, I buy a 5 ton truck and drive it from Sparta, WI, to Chicago, how much trouble from police can I expect? This truck, though purchased legitimately and with paperwork, would not yet have a title or license plate. Has anyone been stopped? Any ideas?
I may need to transport two M923's from Sparta to Chicago. I have a regular flatbed semi trailer and we just may squeeze two of them on it with some creative placement (45ft trailer).
To be of legal height, we may need to reduce their height to the "minimum reducible height" by removing the...
The mileage per gallon is typical and decent for a truck of this size. It is not really horrible, unless you own a Prius now or some such. My pick/up truck does 13 MPG. A 5 tonner is several times bigger and has 7-8 MPG. I think that it is acceptable. I will drive my pickup truck to Walmart, and...
As I mentioned earlier, the 15 amp fuse going to my Haldex ABS ECU was blown, and a replacement fuse also blew right away when I powered up the truck after fuse change.
To try to see if this is the ECU, or the wiring leading to it, that causes the short, I disconnected the ECU today. I have to...
