Second important mod is a swap to power steering. (feeled) 38 turns from lock to lock is not contemporary. And in todays traffic it's also not save. Steering efforts at lower speed are to high, reaction times to slow.
Even with a PERFECT maintened brake system is a single circuit system unsafe.
A buddy has 2! brake failures due a failing BRAND NEW brake hose....this is not the i've heard, someone told me...it is first hand experience.
First time i was close to him, pulled his truck out of a hole and helped...

my 1250lbs ccc stand collapse if you only LOOK at it with a SBF on it. Even after i welded everything together :-)
This is what i really like....i can move the enginge stand around with a pallet jack.
@WS I do my very best :-)
thank you! To be honest...i have no idea. The 990lbs are easy, no drop / bend under load. I would rate it 1500. With this kind of engine mount the lever is very long....
Gentlemen, a little update.
The torsional stiffness of a double T isn't the best. I know that, but i hoped the massive bracing would solve the problem. But it doesn't. With the 990 lbs from the cummins i got a noticeable sway (imagine the vertical double T as the rotatinal axis) .
Just to...
If you're shopping for a HF54 look for a version with full spline and full grove shaft.....
a good place with good infos is srtp.us
They are very helpfull.
Mr. G is the best;)
Looks good!! i like the look of the duals....and now it looks really grown-up! I can't wait to mount my 11-20 NDT's on my deuce...and i hope, due the rounder profile, i don't have your clearance issues.
I'm sorry, i don't think so. The stand manage the 450kg from the 6BT easily...i guess 600kg is noc problem. But more?
And yep, that's exactly what I said...the cheap one is sold as a 1250lbs heavy duty stand and can't manage the 700lbs from a Ford Windsor. Scrap.
This was the stand i got from ebay...it was cheap. I bought it just for storage, not for work. But it can't manage the weight of a 351 Windsor....i'm pretty shure that not ONE part can handle 1250lbs....
Gentlemen,
i want to show you my last project....a new enginge stand. The cheap ones from Harbour Freight , ebay, aso aren't worth the money.
So i decided to make my own.
how many persons do you plan for?
In case of emergency , 46 gallons are enough. If you use it only for drinking....in regular use it's also enough. You can fill up everythere.
I see the problem in keeping more water drinkable...
With my shelter loaded i got
2,78 to. 6.128lbs on the front axle
4,78 to. 10.538 on BOTH rear axles
at a total of
7.48to. 16490
only 2 heavy batteries (~ 200lbs) in the front of the shelter, empty watertank, big overhang in the rear
1 full fueltank
M35A2c WITHOUT winch.....
