Consider this if your going to compare tractor puller's engines. They run for about 5-10 seconds at full throttle/full load. 10-15 pulls a year. That's full power for 2.5 minutes/year. And they do blow eventually.
I never meant to imply that the rod bolts were getting weaker with age(as the root cause of the failures).
I was only making a generalized statement.
At this point in the thread, I am wondering if the OP realizes that the trucks have a governor.
