Just reach out to John at Hillbilly Wizard and get an authentic CUCV OEM accelerator cable. Hillbilly Wizard Home Page Or on Ebay. I just looked and there is one on there. Search "CUCV Accelerator Cable".
Hope this helps.
You can take a small die grinder and remove the outer lip of the spinning rivnuts and then simply push it inwards to expose the hole. Then just install a new Rivnut in the same hole. So easy a Cave Man can do it.
Most everyone here on SS freely shares information for the purpose of assisting other SS members, as evidenced by the five responses to your original question. Yeah, there are a few freeloaders, but it seems all forums have those folks lurking in the shadows. If you have the expertise to...
No disrespect meant to the OP, but there's no doubt in my mind the issue is caused by a defective pump. Your original 2829 pump is worn out and the seals in your 36-year-old "NOS" 1989 pump are dried-out and shot. Nobody wants to spend several hundred dollars for a pump rebuild, and will dance...
Here is a fresh photo of my relay. I had previously removed the glow plug resistor and can't remember if that procedure required any of the wires to be moved. Hope this helps.
The Supercharger intake is an aluminum casting that bolts to the rear of the blower and turns towards the fresh air opening in the core support on the passenger side. I'm using an inline air filter which attaches to the casting, and a flexible duct from the air filter to the fresh air opening...
Today I was finalizing small tasks around the engine compartment prior to re-installing the inner & outer fenders next week. I fabricated & installed an aluminum post bracket & clamp to hold the new accelerator cable away from the Spinner centrifugal oil filter, as well as to maintain the cable...
Guys, by now we've probably scared the OP to death. The reference about sending the kidney probably finished him off. Y'all might have noticed that he hasn't re-posted beyond his original post. I regret having to subject a potential new CUCV owner to such stark comments, but the harsh reality...
Vanaisa, the OP indicated that he wanted a M1008 for a Daily Driver and to pull 12-16 foot cargo trailers. That is entirely different than your situation with your M1009. You indicated that you put 23,600 miles on your vehicle in 8 years. Hmmm.... that means that you are averaging...
First of all, welcome to Steel Soldiers, the world's greatest knowledge depository for past & present military vehicles. With over 113,000 members and over 2.3 million posts, you can usually find on this site any information necessary for the care, repair, and maintenance of these vehicles...
Thanks for the compliment. Yes those are Stan's. I was fortunate to obtain the last set of 6.5 headers from him in 2018 before he retired. To my knowledge there is no other current source for 6.5 headers short of a complete custom-fabricated purchase, which would probably be cost-prohibitive.
An update - after installing the flexible stainless-steel -braided transmission cooling lines, I came to the conclusion that I did not like them. The sharp bends had caused a few of the stainless-steel braiding wires which wrapped the lines to break, causing a few rips in the epidermal layers...
If your new aluminum radiator was produced exactly like mine, it will be approximately 1/4" shorter in height than the OEM radiator. I too used new Energy radiator bushings but still had to fabricate small neoprene rubber saddle spacers to sit on top of the aluminum mounting nubs to make...
Well I have information. The Hawker battery and the Odyssey battery are identical, and both are made by EnerSys Energy Products Inc in Reading, Pennsylvania, with several production facilities located across the nation. The Hawker-labeled battery is sold to government entities, and the...
Thanks for your reply. As anyone who has been following my M1028 rebuild thread can attest, "skimp" is not in my vocabulary. Although side-by-side images of the Hawker and Odyssey suggest that both batteries come down the same assembly line, I agree with you that having Hawker batteries would...
