    Left front fender XM708

There are 5 flush rivets in the top of the fender. Four in a rectangle and one centered in front. They don't attach anything, and I suspect they are just cosmetic hole fillers. My question is, what originally mounted there?

    Paint thinner and primer

What thinner do you guys recommend for spraying Gillespie 24087 ? Also, what primer for prep ?

    XM708 refurb

Removed the damaged passenger door this afternoon and installed two temporary studs in each hinge backing plate to hold them in place. Wasn't able to lift replacement door into place due to broken shoulder. I'll get someone to help me with that tomorrow morning. Swapping out headlights tomorrow...

    Axles and Lockouts

I've been running a set of Warn M13s on my 37 since the mid 60s. I'd like to find a replica or equivalent for my 708. Is anyone still producing either of the two replicas? From memory the 37 axle is 16 spline 1-3/8"...... Is that correct?

    New Tires

Need em bad, for the XM-708. I have a strong preference for directional tires, so am looking at Interco TSL Super Swamper Boggers B-110 38.5x11x16 (actual diameter 37.6") on stock rims. Have any of you guys run these, and did you like them?

    Eaton No-Spin Differential

Is it identical to the old Detroit Automotive KS-22 differential? I installed a KS-22 in my M37 back about 1968-1969 and still think it is the greatest thing since watermelon and moon pie..... 😉 I ask because I'm thinking about putting one in my 708, along with the new 5.83 ring and pinion I...

    Digging through my parts pile

Yesterday and today. Found everything needed to replace the one-piece bumper on the 708 with the winch bumper. Call me lucky.

    XM-708 rebuild

I moved my XM-708 to a contractor friend's construction yard so I'll have access to his repair shop. The 708 is in much better shape than I remembered, though I need a new passenger door and passenger running board. I need to go look at my parts trucks to see if I have spares. The door is...

    Building a hardtop

Back around 50 or 60 years ago, I built a hardtop for my 37 by wrapping a softtop frame and bow with 12ga steel, using a sliding back window out of a Duece. It was strong enough to serve as a roll bar without significant damage when I rolled the truck (which I did more than once). But it was so...

First time posting in over ten years

I'm still here. Still got my M37 and XM708. After 60+ years, I'm thinking it may be time to refurb them and give them to my two grandkids. And yeah, I know that left front tire on the 708 is mounted backwads 😀

    Super Swamper IROKs

I tend to like the tread design on the IROKs for sentimental reasons. They remind me of the old directional Firestone Super All-Tractions I used to run. I'm having trouble deciding between the I-810 (13.5x39.5-16.5) and the I-815 (14x42-16.5). Any thoughts about choice regarding clearance...

400 sb Chevy in XM 708

My brother is fixing to junk an old Chevy pickup that has a freshly overhauled 400 small block in it. I'm thinking about pulling the 230 out of my 708 and doing a fully reversible installation of the 400. It would be an even easier install than the big block Chevy that I put in my 37. No...

Large Engine transplant for M37 ?

Is anyone running anything larger than a 454 in a 37?

    Sliding rear window

When I built the steel top for my M37, I used the round cornered sliding rear window and frame from an M35. I'd like to do the same for my XM708. Any suggestions on where to find one?

    14/42x16 Irok
