Yes Sam - lubrication is the purpose HOWEVER the holes on the outer collar are over 1/2" dia and are not threaded. A grease fitting, if screwed into the outer collar, would lube the inner tube BUT they would be way too vulnerable to damage unless shielded like valve stems on skidsteer/log...
