It was probably twice overhauled. Once for sure in early 1973, once maybe in 1988 before or after arrival in the Netherlands, since it disappears from the archives around that date for that hood-unit number.
While writing this, I saw that Floridian's offer worked, its a draw again. But to save Papabear and Patracy the worries of a draw decision, let's make it a firm win for the bike
Only 1000 841's were made as test, unfortunately it never got further. That would have been a beast.

One of the very few things I still keep aua aua is that I ever sold my 1955 BMW R67/3 with Steip sidecar. The Steip my brother bought and I have it back in...
My 1973 M51A2 indeed a lot older than I was told when I bought it. Both the engine and the truck itself have tag shields mentioning "overhauled 1973". The name of the truck is given as Kaiser Jeep Corporation, which was active only from 1963 to 1970, after that it became AMC.
CARNAC was able...
Did the military dedicated Indians came with the logo or were they delivered in OD directly without ornaments?
One more vote needed for a draw, so we need two more votes for Bigmike's Indian.
I know my brother contemplated buying a brand new one in pieces in a create here in the Netherlands in the early 1970s, as surplus, for 750 guilders (about 1 500 US $ in today's currency), but decided against it. A lot of them were sold of in the Netherlands and German as surplus in the...
I started with an M51A2 and made it into an swapable M51 to M52 and back. I have the full description somewhere, but am on the road now without time to look for the papers. It should work out without too much problems.
Forgot which website this is coming from, but a convoy of 5-tons M51s loaded probably with coal for Berlin
There is a white Mercedes Benz on the left, probably an MB 180 or 190. They were made between 1953 and 1962, so I think this pic is from the late 1950s, or more likely from somewhere in...
Thanks, this is good news, we will be there. Maybe make an SteelSoldeirs Euope meet from it?
We are now preparing our exhibition 30 year end of Cold War, more about that later. Would be interesting to combine it. I have a 1965 M51A2 dump truck from the Engineers that maybe was used or at least...
Easier said then done, I am looking into it for our 5-ton. Going double is a pain, and going air-brake is expensive and difficult also. Also changes the truck rather strongly, but if earning a buck with it is your only goal, why not.
I am not sure from this sentence if you plan to upgrade from...
I did not read the entire old thread again, but know the discussions about this topic: these trucks are not made for "high speed" OTR work, they are designed for average 50 mph slow work. Save yourself a lot of money and time and buy something that is suitable for your OTR needs. One big problem...
