The holes in the big pin (#10 in your drawing) where the grease comes out is right under the rollers of the bearings, so the grease fills the bearings first. I think the hollow gets filled after years of greasing the rollers. I have seen some trucks that have had the top plate tapped for a pipe...
You know, another really good idea, if you are going to use GL to source parts, is to have the stuff you need, BEFORE you start a project. At least the major parts anyway.
My M915A1's jake brake works in low, but does not work in med or high. So, I know the foot switch works and at least the low positions of the switch works. I do notice that when I depress the foot switch in med or high, there is a draw on the electrical system, lights dim, dash fans slow down...
Anybody know what the longest distance traveled for a recovery is? I know I didn't drive it from Nellis, AFB to Fresno, but it was part of the distance traveled on the route to recovering the truck. Total of 2,911 miles. Do I win?
It blows cool but can't keep up with the heat of the day, I don't think the cab is air tight/insulated enough, and I don't think it is blowing as cold as it should be. Oh and we are on the move again, gonna try to make it through Texas before the sun comes up.
Quick update, we left Fresno about 1430 yesterday and we have been driving nonstop and are planning to make it to Las Cruses Nm. here shortly, where we will stop to sleep through the hottest part of the day and get back at it tonight.
So, I guess I just lucked out then. I put 50 because I figured I was at or over the rated load capacity of the trailer. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be more mindful next time.
