    Rear brake valve

WOW that truck is in great shape. It still has the factory part number ink stamp on the muffler. As I read here most guys are tossing that valve. They have a GM service bulletin that describes how to eliminate it. I am sure someone will post it. I don't eliminate it I went thru great pains to...

M1009 radiator replacement 432098; engine oil cooler lines don't fit

I never read reviews. IMHO I never went on a site that sells products and posted a review. Most are whiny crybabies that failed to follow simple instructions on the installation. #1 most important rule when installing a radiator in a CUCV or any radiator is. Will the radiator be securely...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Whoomp there it is. I broke into the barn today. But temperatures went south real quick. That made a set back. Oh well. All is well. The Kubota was out in the snow a few times this winter. Soon time for grass cutting duty. Have a Great Day.

M1009 radiator replacement 432098; engine oil cooler lines don't fit

I have had great success with the Aluminum core Plastic tank radiators in my trucks. I had several of the GM replacement Harrison radiators. They are great and easy to install. Huge improvement and weight saver. The Autozone replacement is a good deal if you like Lifetime warranties. I used many...

    Laundry list for the m1009

Not that bad. 6 9/16" hex headed 3/8" bolts. If they are tight spray them and use a ratchet and work them out. Use a propane torch to heat them. Provided you checked for fuel leaks. After they are out. Toss the old ones and buy 6 new ones. Same as the 7/16" strap nuts. Heat them, remove them and...

    Laundry list for the m1009

Hate to tell you this but I would drop the tank and change the fuel pick up sock. While you have it out blow out all the lines and start from there. That is a tough job getting the tank up and down. I would say 8 hours start to finish doing it right and cleaning and painting as you go. Good...

    M1009 Differential Goes Boom

I really don't understand condemning the Eaton rear axle. It is still in every new truck I buy. My 2019 Silverado Trail Boss has the Eaton locker rear in it. I never had any trouble with any of them. I stand by my statement everything has a breaking point. And 30+ years of wear and use has taken...

    Radiator Stop Leak question

Stop leak is a myth. No such thing. Get the radiator replaced or fixed. Stop leak will fail you and you at the worst time. Solder is the only stop leak I trust. And only when properly cleaned and applied. Good Luck.

6.2L Starter Bolt Hole Repair (Custom Inserts)

Not bad. I have pulled 2 engines to get them fixed at a machine shop. I bought them at DRMO and they had broken bits in the holes. But your repair no matter how lengthy it was is excellent. It works and stays working is what counts. Good deal. Thanks for sharing. You don't find that information...

    M1009 Differential Goes Boom

That works for me. I towed tons of wood with mine. I only ever had one come apart on me. And I beat it like an anvil. I learned the hard way. I found out I have better luck and go a lot farther the easy way.

    M1009 Differential Goes Boom

Road trip. I have brand new M1009 axles in my barn. Still in the GM crates. Brake drums , cables and all. Just bolt in add the oil , use your brake tubing bleed the brakes and drive on. That easy. PM me if interested. Good Luck. I knocked out a few but learned the way of the Gov-Lok then after...

    Not sure what connects here

The system still works with the sensor unplugged. It will just glow/wait every time. Even when it is at operating temp. I had a guy stop by after driving from 2 states away and when he went to leave I noticed he had a wait light. he said it was always like that and thought it was normal. He...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I always change them from the top side. Less then an hour. I would hate life if I would lay under there to do the job. Good Luck.

    Laundry list for the m1009

Well thank you very much for that motor mount information. But I think his main concern was the frame perches part of the motor mount. Not the actual motor mount. And it has been a while but the big block mounts will fit the frame perches. I don't recall drilling the frame on the truck frames...

    Laundry list for the m1009

This looks like an easier route then changing the engine. And if it works and holds the other repairs will still be easier then the engine change. Good Luck.

    Oil pump check valve?

I don't think so. I know if you ever let the oil pan drain plug out of one for an extended period of time and then fill it with oil and install a filter. It will take a short time for the idiot light to go out on start up. So I would say no. I know why your asking. I would pull the wire from the...
