You can get some really well built cables made at your local batt supply house. Take the old harness with you and they should be able use the old harness as a template.

Make sure it is BOILED linseed oil, you can get both readily. The non boiled has a tendency to go rancid and actually get sticky, which is what you wanted to avoid...
