The hood number is basically your trucks serial number or registration number. The unit markings have me baffled. Since it ends with BN which usually means battalion I'm thinking your truck belonged to a HQ, but I have no clue what 3 COS is or what 85 MT is.
RE: canvas
I've heard nothing but good things about Newlife. The only bad thing I've heard is that she is backed up so it takes a while to get your order. Probably some bugs she has to work out.
Where about in NY are you...I ask because a guy on the M715zone was on the east coast near the water and the salt in the air from the ocean caused the POR15 to not stick. If your in upstate it won't mater, but if your on lawnguyland it might make a difference.
and AJ how do you know?
When I got my duce and came home with it my neighbor asked if I had explosives in it because he couldn't see in it due to the cargo cover (canvas)....He wasn't a happy camper either....Oh well. STBH!
Congrats on your purchase and I hope you have a long and happy MV experiance. I've been playing...

RE: Re: RE: M135/211 trans?
The 302 engine does have one "flaw" in it Spicer....The exhust manifold is prone to leaking. If you have ever own a 302 the question wasn't if the manifold would leak, but when.
As for the transmission. My problem with them and it seem to be on any truck I've...
The only value I see in them is if you do community service type work like citizen corps or ARC then you might have a need for a mobile command post or EOC. For collectors the only advanatge one would have over the cargo truck is you have the start of a really cool camper.
A picture of your new ride would be nice for those of us who like to look at such things.... :)
As for the history of your truck you can take some 400 grit sand paper and on the left and right ends of the front bumper start sanding lightly taking a layer of paint off at a time. (this is time...
wix are a direct replacement....I got a mil in the box air filter that had the wix part number on it once. I also had a motor pool sgt hand me a set of primary filters from his shelfs that were baldwin so it's all good.
Keep an eye on e-bay the show up then. You might try Franks Surplus as well as Front line they may or may not have one. If you can get the tank that's half the battle even if it doesn't have the stuff in it like fuel pump and sender.
