Today I pulled the transmission back far enough to take the throwout bearing out. It looked OK. There are alot of nicks on the outer areas of the clutch like something small was knocking around in there like maybe a washer. Some of the bolts that hold the clutch on are loose, one is about half...
My deuce does the same thing with oil pressure but a little more severe. When cold it runs about 30lbs and drops to 15 when hot. It been this way for the 4k miles I've put on it with no problems yet. I use Delo 400 15-40. My first oil change after I got it yielded a large chunk of metal that...
I had a good welder make me a set of 12' ramps, he put a leg in the middle so that the ramps won't flex too far when the weight is on them. I haven't used them yet but I think I'll winch the jeep up the first time. I also had him make a short set to run from my trailer to the deuce.
RE: I have the same problem?
I would say disassemble your switch for a look see. Mine was obviously burnt on the right side. I was hoping for some corrosion I could clean up but that wasn't the case.
RE: Re: RE: Turn signal problem
Mine weren't working on the right side either. Everything else was working. Took my switch apark and the circuit board was fried for the right side. To bad the switch isn't designed so you could replace that board.
My turn signals have gone out twice now. 1st time it was the flasher. Last week it was the switch. I think I need to be more careful/diligent about turning them off. They seem to get hot pretty fast.
RE: Re: 5 ton clutch problems
Thanks for all those pictures. I can't see that area from the inspection plate. There is a crossmember right under the inspection plate that makes it hard to see in there also. It does look like the 2 springs that I can see are touching eachother, one almost behind...
I looked up in the inspection hole and can see nothing wrong except that 2 springs in the clutch seem to be very close together, but then again maybe they should be. I didn't see any broken parts. I had my son push in the pedal while I watched thru the inspection hole. I could see the throwout...
I'm looking for some advice on what may be wrong with the clutch. It has the Gasser engine and hasn't been run in a few years. Got it started, pushed in the clutch pedal, went in gear fine, moved it forward about 15 feet, thought I would test the brakes but it wouldn't come out of gear. I...
I just got my M1009 last spring from a wildlife refuge. I took it on a trip up to Seattle from just south of Portland hauled about 400lbs back, got stuck in some traffic but ran 90% freeway. Got exactly 20mph. Its all stock. The speedo was right on with the speedo checks.
What is the cooling system capacity on the 5 ton gasser? I wanted to add some soluable oil and I can't get the tech manual on this site to open for me.
Thanks,
Greg
Good Maintenance is crucial, but a little luck doesn't hurt either.
I have one with 2500 miles on it. The compensator might be leaking diesel back into the crankcase, because I detected a diesel oder when I changed oil. But the oil pressure is very good.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: I Need Help on Transportation
I would check with your DMV, they all have different rules. Oregon doesn't require a CDL for military vehicles and they have a heavy weight trip permit for towing a trailer. It's $21 for $10 days. Maybe your state has something similar. I also...
Looked like the front winch was missing but maybe it was just the picture. They sure use low res pictures. Didn't seem like a bad price if rust wasn't bad. Did they tell you? Out west here we didn't have to worry about rust from salt cause it wasn't used to thaw the roads. Now ODOT(Oregon DOT)...
