Lone Star Drift - Youtuber with Humvee vs. Jeep

Basically you apply the brakes a little bit, then use the throttle to overcome brake pressure. The friction from the brakes makes the torsion diffs lock up and act as a solid diff. If you are in high lock or low gear in the transfer case all 4 wheels should spin equal amounts. If not for...

    Just purchased 99 m998 and can’t start

Looks to me like the power supply cable for a radio. If you don't want it, send it my way :)

Lone Star Drift - Youtuber with Humvee vs. Jeep

Driver needs to learn about BTM Edit: reading the comments, the driver apparently knows about it and uses it some, but says it isn't working much in the rear.

    Run flat question

for the 16.5 inch rims, the shoulder is at a different angle than most people are used to, it's designed to use a run flat to keep it centered and retained. Without the run flat there is a chance it can come off. If you don't want to use the run flat there are some people making bead lock...

    What year is it, REALLY?

What is the new VIN they gave it? Most of the time when they put on a new data plate, they retain the original VIN. I know mine was rebuilt in 2009 but still had a VIN that put manufacture date in 1999 or 2000. (if you don't want to give us the whole VIN at least do the first 3 digits)

Upgraded running lights work great except in one specific scenario

Normally you would want to start a new thread for any issues you are having with your vehicle so we don't start cluttering up existing threads with information not directly related to the initial post. (but yes, it could very well be as simple as having to replace the bulb in the turn signal...

    Voltage Regulator Dead?

It's supposed to keep the rearward battery charged up. I think what Retiredwarhorses meant was it's not to be used to directly power accessories, it needs to be hooked to the battery to act as a buffer for any 12v accessories plugged into it (still limited to less than 50 amps, and still...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

And I thought I was pretty lucky to get one that only had 10 hours on the clock. Then again, mine had a bunch of bent sheet metal from something being dropped on it, but otherwise a clean 2009 unit.

Ideas to quite down an mep 005

ASK = Acoustic Suppression Kit. Basically some add on or modified components that helped lower the sound output. Below is a pic I found of one with the ASK.

Looking for info on a used MEP-803a

There are lots of reasons why the gauge might read lower than mfg spec oil pressure, not the least of which is the gauges aren't perfectly accurate. Without knowing what oil might be in it, or if there is anything else going on, it's hard to say more. It's a crap shoot buying at an auction...

    Considering '86 HMMWV

Some of the factors to consider is whether it still has the 6,2l and 3 speed transmission, or if it got upgraded at some point in it's life to the 6.5 and 4 speed. Pictures of the doors would give us a better idea whether they are aftermarket, or original military doors with the supplemental...

    Saving deeply discharged Optima 51R's

Looks like the G7200 has been replaces with the Genius 10, a 10 amp instead of 7.2 amp charger. If you're willing to be patient get on their mailing list, and they occasionally send out decent offers, or do things like 30-40% off for black friday. (this last black friday they had all their jump...

    Wet stacking question

Wet stacking is where the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn all of the fuel, so as it runs wet carbon starts building up in the cylinder, on the valves, and in the exhaust system. The fix is to run the engine under a heavy load occasionally to get it good and hot to burn out all the wet...

    M720 pump replacement or rebuild

Carc is some pretty nasty stuff, so scraper would probably be safest, though I normally pressure wash it to keep the dust down. If it stays on after a few good passes of high pressure, I leave it alone unless it's got obvious bubbles under it where it's trying to come off, then I use a plastic...

    Just purchased 99 m998 and can’t start

This is a common issue, and there are dozens of threads started here on a regular basis for "HMMWV no start" That being said, sounds like you have a bad control box. This is a relatively common issue, the fix is to replace the control box with a newer version, and replace the temp sending unit...

    BEOD Mounting

I might just find some trees around here and hoist it that way, it's got 4 big eyelets on the top that I can only assume are there for install/removal as they're a lot bigger than needed to tie down however much the roof is rated for.

    BEOD Mounting

Yeah, I'll need to do something like that because during the summer I'll want to use it in troop carrier configuration for parades and such when I'm not suing it for work.

    BEOD Mounting

So likely I will need to remove the tie downs. Should probably do that first before trying to fit the box into the truck, as I don't have a forklift or overhead hoist, so it's going to be interesting to install it.
