The wheels on the trailers pictured above are the same as on m151 series 1/4 ton trucks. If I remember right the bolt pattern is the same as the one on your Bantam, but the center hole may be too small to fit over the hub. The m151 wheels also will sit closer to the trailer tub, I'm not sure...
If you're interested I can get you some basic dimensions of the bed and poles on an m756a2 pipeline truck.
The bed itself is between 10 and 11 feet long if I remember right. You'll probably never find the gin poles themselves but you could make your own design with similar dimensions.
We painted a few more things today like the hardtop, seat frames, and windshields.
Also the block for the rear anchor
the block for the front winch
and some bridge plate pieces with some vintage surplus paint in the right color.
Also, as I expected this truck does not have lockers...
Removed the passenger door and cut out a small amount of rot, and then forgot to take pictures of it welded up.
Prepped the front of the cab protector, the back of the cab and the interior for paint.
Semi gloss OD, my brother did a lot of the painting.
Won a lot of 8 of the correct blocks...
That's one of the nice things about it, it's not something you see everyday and it's also more useful than a regular cargo truck for most situations.
Most likely the bed floor will be a type of oak.
My former CUCV II Tahoe. 350 Gasser, converted to 12v while in service. Purchased from Government Liquidation in Massachusetts.
Repainted to 383 green by myself then eventually sold to Gunner_USN in MN.
Yesterday evening and today we removed the seats, the convoy lights, spotlights, and a couple other small things
Removed the headache rack to make painting the winch and the back of the cab easier.
Also removed all of the wood floor since it's a bit rotten.
I usually say
m ten oh eight
m ten oh nine
m ten ten
m ten twenty eight
m ten thirty one
I usually just say CUCV, and I don't spell it out as "see you see vee".
I'll be arriving on Friday. I can bring the stuff below if paid for before the show, some of the stuff I'll be bringing anyway (but not necessarily at the prices listed below).
For cargo covers I've got a new vinyl 14ft 5 ton camo, as well as a used 5 ton camo (needs a patch I think) I've...
m416 fenders are closer in design to the fenders on the older short body tool trailers but they are not a match for either. They should work but they will sit higher up if mounted even with the bottom of the frame. If you cut them at the corners and flattened them out a bit they might work good.
Here's a picture of a very similar trailer. This one is also an m416a1 coverted to haul a generator; I'm not sure if it was converted by the military or not. This one had a 1000lb mep-002a on it which is too much weight for this frame, broke some welds on the hitch and bent the a-frame a bit...
It looks to me like it started out as an m416a1 judging by the surge brake and hubs. The fenders also have bolt holes where they were bolted to the tub. I think the only manufacturer was Parkhurst starting in 1978.
I'll be vending at the show again this year; I should be in the farthest corner from the entrance, Row A spots 1,2,3. I can bring anything I've got listed in the classifieds if paid for in advance.
The pintle hooks from CUCVs (except most m1031s), HMMWVs, m37b1s and more rotate and use the same 4 bolt pattern as the small non rotating hooks like you find at tractor supply.
Yesterday we started the brackets for the tackle block used at the back of the truck.
Here's the finished block next to an original we borrowed from Keith.
Should work good.
We're in the market for a set of 2 stake pocket adapters in the unlikely event anyone has some to sell, we could build...
