Picked up the new trailers at GL Barstow today..

Jeff is right...they are heavy, difficult to back up (although you can do it with practice) and really can't carry much. However, I have to admit...I like them. I love to look out and see a line of trailers sitting there in my mini-motorpool...although that's what they do most of them...

    M1061A1 5 ton trailer questions

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: M1061A1 5 ton trailer questions N3UKA has one for sale. It is mint. I've seen it up close. I am not sure what he wants...PM him. It was a former laundry trailer unit, but all of the laundry equipment has been removed...except the framework for the top, which is also...

Picked up the new trailers at GL Barstow today..

I agree with Mike Pop. It seems the only guys that want trailers are those bidding on GL! I remember when nice M105s sold for $700+ in private hands (heck, I bought one for that amount from Joe Young some years back). Not so anymore...not unless they have fresh paint and a nice cargo cover...

Those M35A2C Dropsides Sure Look Heavy

I believe the dropsides are the same on the deuce and 5 ton. I've never really compared them, but I believe this to be true. The difference in the length of the beds is the front two foot section that is stationary on a 5 tonner.

    M139 Restoration Project

That is a beautiful truck! I am thoroughly impressed with your work. I would be curious to hear about what all you have done to it. It sounds like it is ready to get a fairly fresh motor. Did you rebuild the diffs, for example? Transmission, etc...? Really, A-1 job!

    M939 warning notice.

I will add that I have not operated the truck in reverse while in low range since that first time. I don't need to press my luck...and I have rarely had a need to put the truck in low range anyway.

    M939 warning notice.

I concur with D-MAN. I have used reverse in low range...once...the first time I drove an M939 series truck and before I noticed the warning on the data plate. I let the truck move backwards at an idle.

    Allison Trans fluid type????

I've taken my a few M939 series trucks and my M977 directly to Allison and they recommended Dextron III.

    Heads up. M275A2 w/w

Someone will be getting a beautiful truck. I doubt there is a nice tractor out there.

    M939 Warning

You can find the ABS kits...I am not sure where any are right now, but I've seen them. They were part of an MWO.

    Going rate for an M818

If you mean a low mileage, good running, rust free truck with good rubber...I'd say $10K. Add a bit more for a winch and hard top.

    M105 question

There are two square holes on each side of an M105 bed (above and slightly outside the wheel wells), as well as two in the front headboard. What are these holes for? Thanks in advance...

LMTV cargo cover on a deuce

I'll second what Mark said. The covers are not that expensive and they are out there. Mark just sold a brand new cover for, I believe, $200. A friend of mine sold a brand new vinyl cover at Aberdeen last year for the same amount. Now...if I get the FMTVs that I'm looking at...maybe, I'd buy...

    speedo/tach combo?

I also don't think they were used in the M939 series trucks...or, perhaps, you were referring to the M915s and the like that David references.

M332 ammo trailer and MKT-85 Kitchen trailer

I just spoke to John Winslow who picked up two trucks yesterday. He told me that they do have a ramp at Letterkenny, which confirmed what I remember. Regardless, I suggest you call to confirm and also to make sure you can use it.

M332 ammo trailer and MKT-85 Kitchen trailer

Lane, have you thought about calling a wrecker company to help load the trailers? Also, I know they have a large forklift at Chambersburg. Maybe you can ask them to lift the trailers onto the semi-trailer. However, I always worry about damaging the trailers with such lifts. Maybe someone on...

Deuce Hours..indicator of use vs mileage?

Nope...but you'll know old fuel when you smell it. It smells like varnish. A recently running truck won't have old fuel in it.

    M925 System OPS

It could have been converted to an A1 from a straight M939, but, if the data plate says it is an A1, I would bet it is. You still might not have the correct elbow gear.
  20. BKubu

    M925 System OPS

Craig, your speedometer is off because the elbow gear attached the transfer case where the speedo cable attaches was designed to work with the 1100 X 20 tires. I would bet your truck was a straight M939 series and not an A1 and originally used these tires. You need to find the elbow gear that...
